  1. HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO Garmy4: All the cruise companies rate your play differently. Casinos on board ships are basically unaccountable to any regulation. Be sure you enjoy what you play. I like to play craps. It is the most friendly game in the casino. It is the only game in the casino where on certain bets you get paid true odds. Can you still lose, yes. Every bet in a casino has a casino edge to it. If you wish to have success in the casino learn the games you like well. Know all the permutations of the game. You will only have a 50% chance at best. Do play Video Poker because I enjoy it. Also play slots sometimes because my wife enjoys it. Don't have specific goals when I play. Winning is nice, but, like most other gamblers it is unpredictable.
  2. HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO Fellow Cruisers: For those of you going to Bermuda, in the past few years the cruise line is able to purchase a special licence from the Bermudian government to be open while in port. The casino would open at 2100 hours or 9PM. It stays open until 0200 hours or 2 AM. Don't know which cruise lines purchase that licence. Was able to play on Celebrity Cruise Line.
  3. HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO Slyfox16: Go to www.Oceanplayersclub.com. They run the casinos on all six cruise lines owned by the Carnival Corporation.
  4. HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO Fellow gamblers: We go on trips that we want to go on. Have no interest in going someplace we don't really want to go to just because of a discounted or comped room. Get invites for specialty restaurants, comped. Get bottles of wine, comped. Get stuff sent to stateroom, comped. Lately have gotten bookings thru casino. Discount. Never thought of a cruise as a way of getting totally comped for doing something we like to do.
  5. How often do I step on a scale? As few times as possible.
  6. HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO Handsome Dancer: The Chocolate Melting Cake is very good for dessert. I like the Prime Rib for a main course. It isn't available all the time though. Also, the Broiled Salmon is very good.
  7. HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO Dicenaator, glad to see you back on the boards. How did you like the Regal Princess? Had a decent time on that ship and met several really nice folks on the ship. Did okay at the craps table. Had a couple of really long rolls. Also, something you might want to think about, look to establish a point then sevening out. We should discuss this privately, not on a public board.
  8. HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO CalLuvsCrusingTo: Haven't been on the Island Princess as yet either. Was on the Regal Princess last year. Also, like to play Video Poker. Great game. Did okay on the ship. Really like to play at the Craps Table though. You can meet some really great people there. It is the only game in the casino that pays true odds on certain bets.
  9. HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO AAAAmerican: I am glad that you concur with me. Usually someone that makes such a claim has no statistical evidence to support their claim. Can hardly wait for 09/05. Love Pizza day. You have some of the most interesting little known facts in your posts.
  10. HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO Ny Alesund: Do you have any statistical evidence to back up your claim that a casino only exists on a cruise ship to be a profit center for the cruise line? When an NCL ship or a RCL ship pull into port do passengers sit in the now closed casino waiting for it to open again?
  11. HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO Ny Alesund: Going on a cruise ship is not the same as going to a casino resort. First, cruising came about as a means of travel to get from point A to point B. Even after WWll there was no airline that made money bringing passengers from place to place. Airlines didn't start to overtake cruise ships until the mid '60's. In fact back on those days you had to dress for dinner. There weren't that many things to do on a ship. In the '60's cruise ships had to change or go out of business all together. My wife, who went on some cruises in the '70's informs me that the casinos on a ship were not that large. Many of the games they have in a casino today they didn't have. Not every line had a casino on board a ship. When casinos became popular then the cruise lines made them larger in response to demand. Not if we build it they will come. Also, when you pay your fare for the cruise you get many things included, (meals, shows, movies). You go to a casino resort you get your room. Meals you get on your own, want to see a show, not included. Your assertion that a cruise ship would not exist without a casino is false. Viking line does not have a casino. Nor does any company that does river cruising. And neither does Disney Cruise Line.
  12. HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO Fellow Casino Denizens: There is nothing wrong with the Carnival Casinos. This includes all the lines they own. The rules of play are pretty straight forward. If they were complicated people wouldn't be playing in them. Know the rules of play for whatever game you choose to play. If you know the rules well and all the possible permutations of the game at best you only have a 50% chance of winning. In gambling there is no guarantee you will win. If you don't like the payout then either move to a high roller table or play something else. Stick with games that give the House a lower edge.
  13. HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO TV Lady3: You could even play casino games using those chips if you wanted to. Personally, I like to save chips from ships I have played in the casino. Even from those I haven't played in the casino.
  14. HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO TVLady3: We both remember you. My wife, Rosalie, sends her very best wishes. We cruised on the Carnival Dream. We went to the first ever Carnival Brunch which are held on sea days. They are now called Sea Day Brunch. They are better than when we went. We keep on cruisin. We haven't quite made it to #57 as yet. Our next cruise is #27.
  15. HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO TVLady3: As long as the cruise line is owned by the same company.
