newmexicoNita Posted August 24, 2007 #3 Share Posted August 24, 2007 We will be cruising the Star Sept 29th. As for ship tours, we are not doing any. We have decided to do our own privately. Along with several other CC members we will be doing a tour in Acapulco with Rosie (information on CC prots a call) Ixtapa we are doing something totally on our own, we will take the water taxi to Las Gatos beach. Again, check out the ports a call. WE can do pretty much what is offered by the ship for less than 1/2 the price. In Cabo we are joining another couple and taking a taxi to another area of Cabo. Hope this helps you a little. Nita

Former Goalie Posted September 29, 2007 #5 Share Posted September 29, 2007 For our sailing of the Star, the published arrival/departure times are 8 AM/4 PM.. As we will booking an independent tour ashore, we will need to know if "ship's time" in Cabo differs from the actual time ashore. I know that Cabo time is 1 hour ahead of time in LA. Thanks! salty dingo Posted September 29, 2007 #6 Share Posted September 29, 2007 Here's what we did on our last cruise to the Mexican Riviera: we usually do not book ship tours unless it is something special we cannot find privately. The only one like that was in Puerto Vallarta, where we went to a ranch and participated in a Mexican cooking class. It was fun, and they had a lot to see at the ranch - it was very nice. Not the best organized excursion, but later we received a partial refund after some people complained that it was too crowded. We hired a driver for the day in Manzanillo and went up to see the Colima and Comala near the volcanoes. We found a couple to split the cost with, and it was very reasonable, about 80 per couple with tip for a full day with private guide. It included lunch, too. We hired a boat in Cabo to take us to Los Arcos and to Medano beach. It was less than $10 each. In Mazatlan, we walked into town and did our own sightseeing. Later, we took a water taxi over to stone island and walked the beach and had a meal on the beach. It was very relaxing.
