ldl05 Posted August 26, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 26, 2007 Hi! My DH and I are going on Liberty of the Seas on September 8th. I need to know if the ship leaves the port of Miami through Government Cut. This would have you passing by Smith and Wollensky's restuarant and South Beach on the left and Fisher Island on the right. I need to know this because some friends want to wave at us and see us off from Smith and Wollensky's. We live in the Miami area, people aren't flying in or anything like that! I went to the port of Miami web site, and couldn't find any info there. If you have recently been on this ship, any info on departure would be greatly appreciated ! Hypo Posted August 26, 2007 #2 Share Posted August 26, 2007 Yes, she goes straight out Government Cut, around 5:30 to 6 PM EDT. Hypo
Sooner-b-Crusin Posted August 26, 2007 #3 Share Posted August 26, 2007 If you go out there next Saturday we will WAVE at you from her. (if we go that way - I'm totally clueless) And we promise to bring her back in pristine condition for you. Pat
Hypo Posted August 26, 2007 #4 Share Posted August 26, 2007 Now, since I answered your question, will your friends pick up the check for me at Smith and Wolensky's?:D Hypo
ldl05 Posted August 26, 2007 Author #5 Share Posted August 26, 2007 My friends are cheap...they will proabably just stand out on the sidewalk in front!!! Thanks so much for the info!!!
Schplinky Posted August 27, 2007 #6 Share Posted August 27, 2007 It goes as the people above state. Is there another exit out of the port? I've never noticed that.
ldl05 Posted August 27, 2007 Author #7 Share Posted August 27, 2007 I didn't think that there was another exit, but our friend (who is seeing us off) and lives in South Beach was saying there was. I was reluctant to believe this info, as I have been going on cruises out of Miami for over 20 years, and I can only recall leaving through Government Cut. I just wanted to get some other opinions...I knew I could rely on my Cruise Critic friends for this info! Thanks!
Krausssj Posted August 27, 2007 #8 Share Posted August 27, 2007 Just to win a bet, follow this google map link to see a sky view of the port and the ways in which to have a cruise ship enter and leave the dock. I really don't thing the ship would ever think to make a hard turn to starboard in order to leave and it could never fit under the bridges! http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=port+of+miami&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=41.818029,64.511719&ie=UTF8&ll=25.770832,-80.15316&spn=0.046608,0.091152&t=h&z=14&om=
