What do you do about laundry?

I think that most people over pack when they go on vacation plus they buy a few new things as they go along. Other than undergarments and bathing suits which can easily be hand washed and hung up in the shower, we've never had to worry about laundry nor have we ever exceeded our airline weight limits. If we ever do find ourselves in need, I would rather run out and buy something new than waste time in a laundramat.

Angsa, you can verify that in the past few weeks, PoH still has laundry rooms? I have seen very mixed info about that since we booked. CruiseDiva said no, and a 2008 "cruise ships" book at the bookstore said no (although it listed the ship as Jade). Others have said yes.

Just wondering because that would influence how much and what we pack (no access to laundry room = no access to irons = wrinkle-free clothes). I was thinking maybe they are converting the laundry rooms to cabins when it becomes Jade and maybe have already done so. I have been on some ships that lock up the laundry rooms when in port, due to environmental regs. Was that the case on PoH?

We usually pack light and do late-night laundry after the show, though Downy wrinkle releaser works miracles. Even if PoH, indeed, still has laundry rooms, it would be a bit of a challenge because I usually use the slot machines in the casino for change (the change machines in ship laundry rooms are ALWAYS out of order), but no casino on PoH. :(

Any way you look at it, laundry rooms sure beat sending out laundry on ships, which I am so hoping to avoid.

My wife and I definitely used the laundry room on PoH. It was on deck 9. It is not well advertised but ask the PoH staff on board and they will be able to tell you exactly where it is. If I remember right they sell "Tide" for $1, but you will need 4 quarters to slot into the machine. You can get change from the ship's reception, that's what we did. There was a free iron in the room, too, so if your clothes are not dry enough for you, then just iron them.
