LAX - Long Beach and car hire options

Hi all, we are cruising with Carnival from Long Beach and have scheduled a couple of days in the area.

 

We are flying into LAX and plan to collect a car there and then drop off as close to the port as possible two days later pre-cruise.

 

Can anyone with the expertise give us advice on which of the car companies have local depots nearby in Long Beach and whether you know of any car hire companies that may have decent rates - it's going to be an LAX pickup and a Long Beach dropoff unless someone comes up with a better idea - we're open to suggestions, especially if it helps with the cost

Check out Budget Rent-a-Car. You can pick up your car at LAX and then drop it at their downtown depot. They'll probably also shuttle you over to the port when you drop the car but you'll have to confirm it with the local office. The price starts at maybe $75 for a couple days in a small car plus fees goes for a total of just over $100. If you want/need a bigger car then the price will be somewhat more.

 

As I recall Budget doesn't charge more if you drop the car at another location within the Los Angeles area.

I got a great deal in Oct thru Hertz. Pick up at LAX then drop off at Long Beach airport. I leave on Sunday so can not drop it at their office there.

:) You can get a car through Enterprise and drop it off a couple of miles from the San Pedro pier. They also have free shuttle service from Enterprise to the pier.
