Deluxe Suite Perks on the Zuiderdam, FLL

Just when I thought I couldn't get anymore excited about our cruise I see that list of "Suite" perks!! Thanks Twinkletoes, I assume that list is the same for a SB cabin on the Oosterdam?

The reason I wanted to know is because I was going to order a bottle of Dom Perignon (sp?) but not if it's already in there.

 

It's not Dom, so I'd order the champagne. I want to say it was maybe a California Sparkling Wine (possibly)...but I thought I remember seeing "champagne" on the bottle, but I can't remember for sure. We had it sent to our wine steward and we shared it one evening at dinner.

I'm a little late asking this, but I thought I had read somewhere that the NL would arrange delivery of complimentary pre-dinner appetizers in the afternoon for a certain number of people. I was thinking it was for up to 6 people, perhaps 8 people. Is that correct?

 

Our Zui cruise starts Saturday and we are having a CC cabin crawl that will end in our aft suite. We have a small CC group and I wanted to order these. I wasn't sure how far in advance to order or how many I could order. It wouldn't be problem if there was a charge, but it seemed like I'd read somewhere it was available at no charge. It's our first time in a suite and I don't want to go make a fool of myself right off the bat. :o

I knew it was probably a long shot, just thought they might do it in a PH.

 

Do you think I could get it cheaper if I bring my own bottle? Theirs is like 200 bucks.

 

I couldn't advise you on exactly where to get it, but I believe you could get it for less. Seems like I've seen it closer to $150 here in Colorado. You could have a quick look before you board if you have time.

Check with the concierge. There is no charge up to a certain number of people. Sorry but I don't remember the number but it is around 6 or so. You can only get hot appitizers. There is no choice, only what they are serving that night. You must order ahead of time.

 

The orders are very large. An order for 2 will be enough for 4. (unless something has changed).

Considering the cost of the PH suite, I think it would be nice to offer this to those who are staying in that catagory.

Ok...I have found out...the complimentary bottle of Champagne (California Sparkling Headache Wine) is "Chase-Limogere" (in Suites), which you can find for USD 7.99 in a Supermarket!

 

Wow, that's funny. :) Considering the cost of the PH, a better bottle of champagne isn't asking too much, IMO.

On board currently and am being told that no more flowers in the stateroom are part of S Suite--just a bowl of shells was delivered with one flower--and no more corsages--just a boutinierre for each! Service is very disappointing--no refills on toiletries in bathroom! One soap for two showers. Room service never delvered today. We are on Westerdam; 4th time in S Suite and it has gone downhill in many respects since last time in our opinion.Will save our money next time and look elsewhere if this keeps up.

Have you brought these issues to the attention of the appropriate personnel on board (moving up chain of command as needed), and if so, what was their response? Hope things improve. Please keep us posted.

You need to speak with your steward, Chief Housekeeper, GRM, Hotel Manager...... this is the first that anything like this has been written here and is so contrary to what everyone else experiences that I wonder if there is some problem occuring on Westerdam or specifically just with your cabin. We were on four cruises this summer and had all the usual "S" cabin comforts and amenities.

Just returned today; have been on over 40 cruises and never experienced such an unpleasant cruise; no one is minding the store on the Westerdam; every day was a new bad experience; met many others who also said never again to Holland America and they too used to be loyal; brought the stated concerns to the attention of management; no one seemed to know how to correct a problem; also was told no more flower arrangements or corsages for S Suites, although their current website says otherwise, etc; extremely clear that HAL is cutting costs at the expense of the S Suite and Penthouse passengers; also clear that automatic tipping has ruined the incentive of many to render previous great service--was atrocious to the point where even the concierge was unable to get coffee to our cabin and it continued to be undelivered on several occasions; one of our pieces of luggage today--properly marked--during disembarkation was never delivered and was deemed lost and it took almost 2 hours after disembarking to try to find it --it was where it should not have been--crew has apparently no training and was very inept; we used to recommend HAL to others but never again; we will go elsewhere for a pleasant cruise vacation next time-HAL's attitude was very much take it or leave it about everything --who needs this on a vacation? Good Luck to all who take HAL next time--new folks won't notice the decline in quality but those who know will see for themselves and be disappointed.

also, no priority disembarkation on the Tenders without the stares of others in long lines; no more priority card given and no one to escort you; no specific waiting area so it just definitely looks like you are cutting in line in front of others and no one from HAL is there to look out for you at the beginning/end of the line; it's every man for himself
