hiseaslady Posted August 28, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 28, 2007 A friend is leaving Sydney on the Sun Princess in Dec 07. Does anyone know if she can take alcohol onboard either in carry-on luggage or suitcase? Which is best. Ta HiSeasLady
m steve Posted August 28, 2007 #2 Share Posted August 28, 2007 they say you can't but just pack it in the suitcase not the carry on. We did the Diamond in 2006 and no problem other than your prices in OZ. We brought ours from the states and it was about half what we saw in Sydney. Even the DFS. Spikesgirl Posted August 28, 2007 #3 Share Posted August 28, 2007 We packed wine and champagne (four bottles total) in our suitcases and didn't have any problems - just make sure you pad it well to avoid breakage. You can always use the packing material for your purchases on the way home:D . I don't know about hard alcohol as we've never tried to take any on board. m steve Posted August 31, 2007 #4 Share Posted August 31, 2007 They get $48.30 for ltr of Dewars and $29.90 for Stoli. If Princess sold at those prices there might be less smuggling. Those prices are 3X the DFS on board.
Rare arxcards Posted August 31, 2007 #5 Share Posted August 31, 2007 A friend is leaving Sydney on the Sun Princess in Dec 07. Does anyone know if she can take alcohol onboard either in carry-on luggage or suitcase? Which is best. Ta HiSeasLady The official line for Sun Princess cruises departing Sydney is that no alcohol can be bought onboard, including wine. This will be detailed in their cruise contract. Your friend can attempt to smuggle some onboard at their own risk. Any found in luggage will be confiscated & returned at the end of the cruise. What cruise is your friend taking? I am cruising on one of the three December departures, 28th December, Cheers
