Arubalisa-Purse shopping?

Hi, do you think you could suggest a place to find those knock-off designer purses, I hear Aruba is the place to find them? Also the REAL ones too??

Thanks for any help you can give! :-)

Hmm...the best place huh? Maybe at one time...but I don't think any longer. My last big purse purchase in Aruba was a Coach which I ended up having to return back here in the states because it fell apart. I have probably a dozen Coach's and that was the one and only time it happened. Anyway, that was 10 years ago, as far as I know Coach is no longer on the island. My MIL is the purse "queen" :D and she shopped around the last two times she was on the island and did not think there were any bargains. Don't know because her budget is way out of my league. ;-)

For what you want...

Feragamo, Vuitton and Gucci are all there in the Mall, an easy walk from the ship.

Don't know about the knock off shops. I am sure you could stop and ask an Aruban woman on the street and she could surely point you in that direction.:)

Happy shopping!

Lisa, we are doing a ships snorkeling excursion first thing in Aruba, and it should leave us with only an hour or two for going around town. I think the mall might be fun ~ any other ideas for a very short amount of time close to the ship?

Thanks!

Downtown Oranjestad in the vicinity of the cruise ship terminal is basically stores, restaurants, bars and the Renaissance Resort & Casino. Nice to walk around, even if just window shopping...stop in the internet cafe to check with home...pop a couple of coins in a slot machine (other than on the ship :) )...

Just found this recent post on another forum:

There is one store in town that sells nice fake bags! Gucci, Dior, Prada, etc. They are GOOD knockoffs! Its upstairs as if your going to Iguana Joe's and just keep walking straight passed IJ's down that open hall and the store is down at the end!

My girls bought nice fake Couch bags (with the patchwork) from a kiosk around Texas deBrazil last November and they really were very very nice.

I assume, "Couch" should read Coach. :D
