lostdart58 Posted August 26, 2004 #1 Share Posted August 26, 2004 Yes I know it is a fresh water. I assume it is another of those farm raised fish. I like my fish but Tilapia won't do it........IMHO when it is good it has little flavor and when it is bad it taste like dirt. For some strange reason I DO NOT LIKE DIRT!! Who's had the Zander?? SeaDays Posted August 29, 2004 #2 Share Posted August 29, 2004 Okay, I had the same question some time ago. This first-night dish has been on the Princess menu for quite some time. (In fact, today's seven-night menu is virtually identical to that we had on our first Princess cruise eight years ago). Zander is very similar to Perch. (You're correct in guessing that it is a farm-raised freshwater fish). It's popular in Europe, and even more, in Russia. I've heard it's good, and I use cruises to try new and less-familiar foods. Obviously Zander is frozen and imported. I'll try it next month on the Diamond, and only then will I feel qualified to judge Princess's choice to put this on the menu for a predominently U.S. passenger base. Mezzaluna Posted August 29, 2004 #3 Share Posted August 29, 2004 I tasted it on the Horizon Court buffet. It was delicious and wonderfully prepared.

rag doll Posted September 5, 2004 #7 Share Posted September 5, 2004 I had the Zander first night out on Golden this summer. It was a mild tasting fish and it was very well prepared. I plan to have it again on my fall cruise. Give it a try.
