familyofd Posted September 7, 2007 #1 Share Posted September 7, 2007 I have a dumb question , I know you can rent your own rubber raft from the island but does anyone know if I take a cheapie raft with me will they let me use it , I dont care about the salt probably killing it cause im not planning to take it home. Its been a while since I have been to this island so Im not sure what is allowed / Thank You
Langley Cruisers Posted September 9, 2007 #2 Share Posted September 9, 2007 Is it a small, blow-up raft? Can it be folded down to be relatively small and unobtrusive? 'cuz trust me, when you get on the tender boat with 200 other people, no one is going to appreciate your raft taking up one of the seats, if it's a large one. ;) Plus, that's a lot of plastic to be leaving behind on Labadee; we're asked to leave the place as beautiful and as clean as we found it. If you decide, it's 10 bucks to rent the raft, and it's payable with your SeaPass card.
familyofd Posted September 9, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted September 9, 2007 Thanks for the reply but no I was not going to leave it there on the island, I was going to get the air out and take it back on ship and toss it there. It will be a $1.75 raft brand new so it wont take up any room on the tender or anywhere else its as big as any bag ill be taking, I guess I just take it and if they tell me to not use it then I wont, I guess Ill find out sooner or later, thought for sure someone else has taken their own rafts
Langley Cruisers Posted September 9, 2007 #4 Share Posted September 9, 2007 Cool. You know what? There's no way you will not be allowed to use it. It's not that kind of structured, rigid environment that a guest can't blow up his own raft and use it. The only RCI employees we saw in the immediate area were those tending the bar. There are locals, approved by RCI, who help guests with chairs but other than that, no one will be telling you you can't do it. Hope that helps. :) In another thread I read that someone took their own raft and on the way back to the ship, gave it to a little local Haitian girl in the market area. I thought that was nice, and it didn't end up in the garbage/landfill.
