Ted Pulaski Posted September 7, 2007 #1 Share Posted September 7, 2007 On Tuesday Oct 2, 2007 the QMII plus a Voyager Class plus the NCL Spirit will all be in Halifax! That's over 10,000 passengers & crew! Can Halifax handle this mob? Any hints or tips?
edinburgher Posted September 7, 2007 #2 Share Posted September 7, 2007 YES YES YES.:) Three ships is nothing to worry about. Look what we had almost one year ago, in Sept 06. Can anyone beat this lot? FOUR cruiseships plus..... 2 QUOTEs FROM A THREAD LAST YEAR 1) For those of you in Halifax Sept. 23 Just a heads up for anyone in Halifax on September 23. It will be a crazy, busy day in this city. First off, there's a Rolling Stones outdoor concert in the near downtown area. Expecting approx. 60,000 for that. There's also an exhibition NHL game, and it's the tail-end of the Atlantic Film Festival. Plus, there will be 3 cruise ships in. It will be a very crowded, busy city that day, but loads of fun! Enjoy. 2) Thanks for the warning. We are one one of the 4 (not 3) cruiseships in that day. We looked on the port authority some time ago and we dont even have a pier yet. Sea Princess (us) and QE2 are still listed as TBA. I have no idea where they will put us as the usual piers are already allocated to 2 others. ................................................................................................... There wasnt a rental car to be found for hundreds of miles. They were old rented out as people made their way to the concert. Our port call in Sydney NS included a rental car and we were told that there. :)
RickT Posted September 10, 2007 #3 Share Posted September 10, 2007 Having been in the Cayman Islands when there were 6 ships anchored, I have to assume a large city like Halifax can easily handle 3 cruise ships. Finding a seat at one of the great pubs might be a bit more difficult than on other days but I'm sure all will be OK.
