IMNiles Posted September 11, 2007 #26 Share Posted September 11, 2007 What is a "get out there menu"? A good reason to go to Portofino. ;)
AFT_LOVER Posted September 11, 2007 #27 Share Posted September 11, 2007 since I will be getting on to my 8th deck AFT which better be ready for me to board. How is the entertainment? Brilliance last April had -0- known folks. We were told half the crew & entertainment baled after panama canal. But for $600 for 14 nights, who can complain ;-) The new beds were great! So they know the overrun of Polar Bears onboard, even a few with a PJ Breakfast, not me. Was at NOAA Weather at the Airport for my weather report for the cruise. 50's with 60% rain (I hope at night) til Pacific week ending with 90's. Here at home in Cleveland, it is 63 right now after 85 yesterday. Lows in the 40's so I know it is time for Alaska. Rain all day too. Food I don't complain about, as I love the presentation so I an order all appetizers to get the show I want if nothing in the entre area appeals to me. So is there a DL (Diamond Lounge) for us to get coffee & continental breakfast at? Did you spy or ask Reyno who hasn't answered my email as yet. HO is for cocktails, but I fear that is too small for over 500 Diamonds.
Murphy Posted September 11, 2007 #28 Share Posted September 11, 2007 Hope everyone sailing this week continues to have an AWESOME!1! Time1!! I plan to have a great trip when we board THIS FRIDAY! (I'm not excited or anything!) We make our own good time and certainly don't sweat the small stuff! If my cabin's not ready when I board, I go check things out and/or eat first! It's not like I plan to go to sleep when I board for goodness sakes or that my cabin won't ever be ready! Any extra amenities like a cup of coffee or a cocktail are truly appreciated as what they are, thank yous for being a return guest. If the crowds don't suit me, I go somewhere else. It's not like there aren't multiple place onboard to get a cocktail or food! RCCL doesn't OWE me anything. Whatever they put together as a thank you is appreciated! Since our sailing is a C & A Member's cruise, I don't expect special treatment. Heck I know there are HUNDREDS of D/D+ member onboard. How could the crew make everyone of us the first on or the first off the ship? I hope others think about these numbers and put things into perspective! As far as OBC goes... doesn't OBC stand for ONBOARD CREDIT? Doesn't that mean to cover things you SPEND ONBOARD? I personally never have a problem spending mine. I use it to pamper myself and do things I might not otherwise do if I had to cough up the cash for it! And for goodness sakes, everyone ENJOY YOUR CRUISE! dirtgirl Posted September 11, 2007 #31 Share Posted September 11, 2007 with this CL for GS+ only. With over 500 Diamonds onboard a member cruise, they need a DL with the Seattles Best coffeemaker for our free specialty coffee & continental breakfast in the AM. I HAVE TO HAVE MY LATTE or CAPPUCINO!!!!! HO is quite small for that large number of Diamonds so I hope they got a big bar for us all. The free cocktails with the side dishes are a must for us. I sent an email to RA_Concierge@rccl.com but heard -0-. Same with C&A. Did you have an OBC? We always do & use i for tips & cash it out before leaving. But now I hear it cannot be used for casino or gratuties. I booked our excursions at home, so they can credit our VISA then. You can always get free regular coffee up in the Windjammer, or from room service. Or, walk down to Lattetudes on deck 5 and order a special coffee. You will be charged for that, though. You do have some other options if there is no cappucino machine in the Diamond Lounge. Since you paid for a wonderful 14 day cruise, I don't think a few extra dollars going towards coffee could make that much of a difference. Enjoy your cruise! critterchick Posted September 11, 2007 #32 Share Posted September 11, 2007 Well said, Murphy & DG! With all that's happened in my family, two-and four-legged, in the last week and with today's annual reminder of how fragile the universe is, worrying about free coffee doesn't even fall on my radar screen. The Get Out There Menu should be served on the last night and called the "Get Out of Here, We Have to Get Ready for the Next Set of Passengers" menu. The corn-crusted tilapia (I think that's on the menu) is a waste of a poor fish.
PH8 Posted September 11, 2007 #33 Share Posted September 11, 2007 I thought it was tempura Mahi Mahi the last night.......same night as turkey.......my least favorite night in the dining room...
dirtgirl Posted September 11, 2007 #34 Share Posted September 11, 2007 I saw all of those items on the menu while on the Serenade. The "Get out There" menu was served to us on the Wednesday. The turkey was definitely served on the last night. Isn't it funny, or not, that we know the menus???

critterchick Posted September 12, 2007 #36 Share Posted September 12, 2007 I like the key lime pie, too, and the steak offering isn't too bad, but I'm usually beefed out by the last night. The Go Away menu is served mid-week - have only been subjected to it once and can't remember the other offerings.

GMoney Posted September 12, 2007 Author #38 Share Posted September 12, 2007 quick post by iphone...so it'll be short... Sailaway is commencing from skagway. We had the best day here. Bright sunshine, no clouds, and it mustve been 70 today. Sooooo nice. I hiked 6 miles and 3100 ft up to Upper Dewey Lake. Hike was taxing but the views were stellar. Tomorrow is Skagway... Murphy - love your attitude. Have a great cruise. Entertainment has been so so; a decent comedian, very average magic act, and kelly montieth... I have to say while i have to pack in 2 days, ive had a great 14 days at sea and 15 on land!

The Go Away menu is served mid-week - have only been subjected to it once and can't remember the other offerings. We like the turkey on the last night and the key lime pie, makes us feel like we're in Florida. It's not the norm on a menu where we live. It is funny that we know the menus. The GOT menu had a penne dish, the cornmeal tilapia, parmesan crusted turkey tenderloins and slow roasted beef shoulder. If none of the entrees appeal to us we select from the always on then menu list - there's usually a steak & a chicken. We always find something we like. See you on Friday! GMoney Posted September 13, 2007 Author #44 Share Posted September 13, 2007 AWESOME day today in Sitka, which is a beautiful place. Weather was perfect like Skagway; morning fog cleared to a nice sunny and warm day. Only I could get sunburnt in Alaska! :D Did a great independent whale watching tour this am. Not quite as good as Icy Strait Point last week, but excellent nonetheless. Tender process back to the ship was a bit of a disaster. Longest lines I've ever seen. At least it wasn't cold and raining! Free internet appears to be over... :(

We were set up for US Direct but we had to change plans in Toronto so we were no longer US Direct...friends flying on a different flight were US Direct also but because of all the delays they arrived in Vancouver after 2:00... Either way have a wonderful time...
