MV Discovery--questions for previous cruisers

I have a couple of questions for those of you who have sailed on the Discovery. What types of foods are available through room service? Also, do they serve afternoon tea? And lastly, do they have Splenda [the artificial sweetener in the yellow packets?

Hi Tarheelbelle,

 

I did not order room service. They do have an afternoon tea every afternoon at 4PM. They did have splenda when we were on board in January. Enjoy the cruise!!!:)

Are you in luck! I just happen to have the Room Service menu. Room Service is available from 07:00 am to 10:00 pm daily:

 

Soup of the day.... Served with rolls

Sandwiches.... Ham, Turkey, Cheese, Egg or Tuna

Turkey Club Sandwich...Turkey, Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, Egg

Hot Sandwich.... Tuna with melted cheddar

 

Sandwiches served on White, Brown, Wholemeal or Soft Bap

 

Smoked Salmon.... With capers, onion, toast & butter

Chef Salad... Choice of French, American, Italian dressing

Fruit Platter... A Selection of seasonal fresh fruits

A Selection of Ice Creams... Topped with whipped cream

A Selection of Cookies

 

CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST.....

Juices: Orange, Tomato, Grapefruit, Pineapple

Fruit: Fresh Fruit Platter

Cereals: Corn Flakes, Muesli, Rice Crispies, Fruit & Fiber

Yoghurt: Plain Yoghurt, Fruit Yoghurt

Bakery: Rolls, Danish, Assorted Bread, Croissants, Toast

Preserves: Strawberry, Apricot, Orange, Butter, Margarine

I have another question, because another future Discovery Antarctic cruiser asked this on the Antarctica board. How formal are the formal nights on the Discovery Antarctica cruises? Tuxes and beaded gowns or suits and cocktail dresses or even less formal?
