Gator0178 Posted September 10, 2007 #1 Share Posted September 10, 2007 Just back from the Sovereign 9/7-9/10 cruise. As they always say, the best way to cure PCTSD (Post Cruise Traumatic Stress Disorder) is to book another! So I am now book on Mariner 9/14/08 Eastern. First everything was great! Great weather, great people we met at the informal meet and greet like Tyman, Tamra, Pat, just to name a few. Anyway, on to the reason you clicked on this thread: 1) There is definitely no dueling pianos 2) Quest has been moved from the last night to the first night. 3) Love and Marriage is after the Farwell show on the last night. 4) No sewer smell. 5) You can watch some football on the ship. We got ESPN International and saw LSU-VT as well as college halftime reports. There was also NFL football on as well. It was on a big screen in the Schooner Bar. 6) Taked to several of the crew including the loyalty Ambassador,Phillipa, who will be transfering in a few weeks to the Mariner as well as the Guest Relations Mgr about what will replace Mariner. There exact response was it would definitely NOT be Genesis. The felt that it would be the new Independence when it came off its maiden itenerary to Europe. They said that of course it wasn't "confirmed" because it wasn't in a press release from the home office, but that is what they had been hearing. I will write a review in the very near future. Thanks for reading everyone. I will take any questions.........:D

tamtot Posted September 10, 2007 #3 Share Posted September 10, 2007 Hi, Thanks for the info. So excited to board her next week! Do you know what time you were able to disembark at Nassau? We're wondering if a 12 15 pickup is do-able for a Stuart's Cove excursion? Thanks for your help! Tammy
cot427 Posted September 10, 2007 #4 Share Posted September 10, 2007 Thanks. It is interesting that they thought that the Independence. I thought that they would want a Freedom class in Europe in the summer months. If it does well in Europe, I doubt that they will take it off, unless they replace it with Freedom or Liberty. Thanks for the review.

tamtot Posted September 10, 2007 #7 Share Posted September 10, 2007 Parrothead--well, that'll do it. I'm not much of a risk taker--a little nervous to lay the non-refundable money out there. Was hoping to get someone who actually made that excursion work:-) Thanks, Tammy
PH8 Posted September 10, 2007 #8 Share Posted September 10, 2007 Good luck.we did it a couple of years with no problem..............think positive!!:D You should just post a thread " anyone do the Stuarts Cove excursion while on the Sovereign lately??" Maybe then someone who actually did it and make it will post...........
tamtot Posted September 10, 2007 #9 Share Posted September 10, 2007 Parrothead Thanks--how early are we talking here (to line up)? cruisegirl1 Posted September 10, 2007 #10 Share Posted September 10, 2007 Arrived on scheduled ( were NOT the first off the ship) and made Stuart Cove bus with no problem. Excursion was awesome! M
Gator0178 Posted September 10, 2007 Author #11 Share Posted September 10, 2007 Hi,Thanks for the info. So excited to board her next week! Do you know what time you were able to disembark at Nassau? We're wondering if a 12 15 pickup is do-able for a Stuart's Cove excursion? Thanks for your help! Tammy I did Stuarts Cove scuba diving. It was great! If you dive you cannot book through SC. You must go through the ship as I had to. If you snorkel, you can book direct with SC. You should make it. I was first off the ship. I waited about 30-45 min on deck 2 PRIOR to departure. A line quickly forms and snakes up to deck 3.
cruzincurt Posted September 10, 2007 #12 Share Posted September 10, 2007 Gator0178, We also just got off the Sovereign and was home by 10:00am. We had a great time. The ship is holding up well. Only complaint was the "tight" slot machines. Wow. I watched several people put a $100 in the Wheel of Fortune, maybe win some small pots, then run over $200 through without ever getting a spin on the wheel. They need to add a Let it Ride table. Only problem, we had a window; kept looking for that balcony door. The wonderful Mariner in two months...
Gator0178 Posted September 11, 2007 Author #13 Share Posted September 11, 2007 I forgot to add that I always wondered what rooms were lucky enough to do the muster drill in doors in the Bolero......Well I found one. It is 8038. Just an FYI:D

And that will be our cabin when we sail on 12/24:p ...I think all the cabins on 8 & 9 have Boleros for muster, as we have been on both decks on prior cruises and always had Boleros... Hi Kathy!!! slackey26 Posted September 11, 2007 #18 Share Posted September 11, 2007 We just got off of this ship. While we did have a good time, there were a couple of things that were a downer. First, the assistant waiter was not very good. Normally, the wait staff is great. Everyone at our table had the same complaint about this guy, so it wasn't just me and my group. The second complaint is that they were out of some alcohols. I ordered an apple martini on the first day and was told that they were out of of apple pucker (this was at 2 different bars). My friend ordered a peach daquiri and was told that they were out of peach schnapps. Another lesson we learned on this cruise, 3 night cruises are just not long enough. SharonCruise Posted September 11, 2007 #19 Share Posted September 11, 2007 Gator0178, Only complaint was the "tight" slot machines. Wow. I watched several people put a $100 in the Wheel of Fortune, maybe win some small pots, then run over $200 through without ever getting a spin on the wheel. Wow, and for once my experience in the casino was the total opposite of yours....I was on the 9-3 sailing and hit a jackpot myself for $1,008.00 and also saw 3 others hit jackpots......1 lower than mine and 2 more than mine. Maybe it was just our week! I have seen them tight previously.... Sharon
Gator0178 Posted September 11, 2007 Author #20 Share Posted September 11, 2007 I saw a guy spend so much in the casino that they gave him a Royal Caribbean polo shirt that said Casino High Roller.
sea-cruise Posted September 11, 2007 #21 Share Posted September 11, 2007 Another lesson we learned on this cruise, 3 night cruises are just not long enough. That's what I'm afraid of. They might have to pry my fingers from the gangway on the last day so others can embark. :(
NewCop26 Posted September 11, 2007 #22 Share Posted September 11, 2007 I'm the guy that ordered the peach daiquiri. Whats up with no alcohol or running out of lots of different kinds? Thats crazy!! They should expect people are going to want to have drinks when they board or when they are cruising. They were saying they were out, long before we even departed on the cruise. How about hopping on the ship, running down the street to the liquor store and getting some more! ha ha. This is crazy!! I agree our wait staff in the dining room was horrible. Normally they are outstanding. This group was not up to par. Maybe we'll have better luck. We just booked for Alaska in May 08. That should be a blast!:D
