Silvery Seas Cruiser Posted September 14, 2007 #2 Share Posted September 14, 2007 Can you be more specific about what type of advice you need about Majesty? Also it might help if we knew if you are on the three-day cruise or the four-day cruise. It might help, too, if we knew what time of year you plan to cruise. Melba1024 Posted September 14, 2007 #3 Share Posted September 14, 2007 From the countdown clock, looks like she is traveling in January on a 4 night trip.
HNicoleL Posted September 14, 2007 Author #4 Share Posted September 14, 2007 I'm going on a four day cruise January 7th. I went on Voyager of the seas last time, so I guess what differences should I expect? How is the food? And that type o' stuff. Ooh and do I need to bring towels for the beach? HNicoleL Posted September 14, 2007 Author #5 Share Posted September 14, 2007 Oh, and how soon before do they start boarding?
mommabean Posted September 14, 2007 #6 Share Posted September 14, 2007 The ship is much smaller than Voyager but looks like new. That's because she was refurbished in Feb of this year. The ship has an easy to navigate deck plan. The rooms are VERY tiny compared to other class ships. I was in an OV once and although it was so small, it had GREAT storage capacity. I could easily cruise again in this category of cabin with a friend or sister - a DH, I don't know. ;) The crew is great. They will supply you with beach towels so there's no need to bring your own. There are plenty of alternate eating options on board although no upscale restaurant. Even the pizza at Sorrento's is good if you get it fresh. The dining rooms are each only one level high so that doesn't seem as special as the larger ships but they are both beautifully redone since the refurb. Coco Cay is often missed due to rough seas but so far on my 3 Majesty cruises it hasn't been missed. If you like to walk, take the trail to the other end of the island where you can have some real privacy. It seems rare that many other people walk that far. Or just walk along the beach as far as you can and you can have a private spot to yourselves down there, too. There are plenty of hammocks along the way. This is a great ship. The only thing that is too bad is that there are no sea days so you don't get to enjoy being on the ship as much as you do on other ships. Boarding always begins at approximately 11am contrary to what the cruise documents state.

trish1c Posted September 14, 2007 #8 Share Posted September 14, 2007 I sailed her in 2003 so my info may be a little stale. I did write a review which I think is still posted but I don't know how to get you the link. :o Anyway, no you don't need towels. The Viking Crown lounge (the bar around the smoke stacks) was the best kept secret I found. The panoramic views were magnificant & it was never crowded. Also nobody seems to find the aft pool bar for the 1st 2 days; we found the service there to be superior. I enjoyed the cold soups at the Windjammer cafe very much. If I ever did another 3-4 night cruise I would pack much lighter. For formal night I'd only bring a LBD in a travel fabric that I could dress up w/ great heels & jewelry but I'd leave the real formal wear at home. My BF & I plus our dinner table mates were the only ones on the whole ship still in formal wear about 1 hour after dinner; everyone else changed into shorts. jackdiamond Posted September 14, 2007 #9 Share Posted September 14, 2007 We have never been on that ship, but we understand that it has a 3 1/2 star rating.
Rare taxatty Posted September 15, 2007 #10 Share Posted September 15, 2007 We just got off the ship and had a wonderful time. The ship is practically brand new on the inside. New bedding and flat screen TVs in the rooms, still tiny but big enough as long as you don't try to stuff in more than 2 persons. Not many balconies, but you really don't need one for this itinerary. Friendly service everywhere. One tip--wait for Nassau day to use the spa services--which then were on sale. Also--the Compass Deli is well hidden behind Sorrento's Pizza, and had very good sandwiches, soups and a salad bar. If you want to try Johnny Rockets--it was half-empty the first two days, with a long line the last day. Les

cruzincurt Posted September 15, 2007 #12 Share Posted September 15, 2007 The Majesty was our first RCCL cruise years ago. Didn't she used to have a movie theater on the bottom deck? The current deck plans show an empty white box. We are looking forward to visiting her for Christmas this year. Mommabean, nice photos. Do you recall if the casino had a Let it Ride table? The Sovereign didn't on our cruise last week
realtorron Posted September 15, 2007 #13 Share Posted September 15, 2007 Movie Theater is gone, great crew & service. We go in Jan (1st cruise after refurbishing in Feb07) for Anniversary:)
Rancher Dave Posted September 15, 2007 #14 Share Posted September 15, 2007 My BF & I plus our dinner table mates were the only ones on the whole ship still in formal wear about 1 hour after dinner; everyone else changed into shorts. Did everyone really dress up or not on Formal night? I'd hope they weren't in speedos etc...but I hear dress casual is widely accepted on Formal night on the 3 night cruise. Also hear it is a young mostly uinder 35 crowd, is that your experience as well? Thanks
leeanninfla Posted September 15, 2007 #15 Share Posted September 15, 2007 I leave on MOTS in 3 days, and am impatiently waiting. We will be dressing for formal night, and really can't wait. This is our first official cruise. I will post a review when I return. OH, and we are doing the 4 night.

The Sovereign didn't on our cruise last week I wish I could answer the Let it Ride question, but I can't. We did spend a bit of time in the casino but I'm mostly an observer. I remember some talks people had here at the forum about some sort of new card table that was put on Majesty but it wasn't called that, but something else I can't remember. Thanks Our experience on the 3 3 night MOS cruises we've been on is that the demographics has been the same as on all the RCI cruises we've been on. There were fewer long formal dresses and tuxes but still most people were dressed up. The casual dressers weren't dressed too down on formal night. I only remember seeing baseball caps and shorts on the other nights - and I'm not kidding. :) Gina

Also hear it is a young mostly uinder 35 crowd, is that your experience as well? I was too busy being awed by my 1st cruise to pay attention to the demographics. I saw people of all ages -- infants to 80 year olds but most seemed to be in the middle. There were not a lot of kids but I also didn't see too many "partiers". My one venture into the disco found it kind of empty. People were more dressed than the other nights but I'd say it was less than 5% formal (meaning tuxedo & gown). bbspin12 Posted September 17, 2007 #19 Share Posted September 17, 2007 Those pictures are great! We are sailing in April and can hardly wait. We sailed in 2005 and I can tell by the pictures that she has updated. Thanks,
