Just wondering what advise anyone can give me on good shore tours. We haven't organised anything yet and were looking to see what you can recommend?:o

We came back from the week fantastique last week. We did the le petite train in Noumea. This was good, i thought a little pricey for what you got but compared to the other tours definitely worthwhile. It took you up through Noumea and to a lookout where you were give pastries and champagne or soft drink. I have been told that most of the tours in Noumea cover the same spots and that the Le Petite Train is probably the best. We had 2 children (7 and 10 years old boys) with us and they enjoyed it. We were booked to do the beach tour in Lifou but this has now been cancelled operator has gone out of business. All that was left was the Melanesian Cultural Tour - again this was quite good you got to see the traditional huts and cooking etc. The most enjoyable tour by far was the Cascade waterfalls in Vila. We actually booked this directly through http://www.evergreen.com.vu rather than P and O and paid about half the price P and O was charging and we actually ended up being with all the other P and O passengers on the actual tour itself. This was absolutely beautiful - you get to swim in and under the falls and the guide was excellent. He was great with the boys he even carried the 7 year old to the waterfalls and helped him get etc. We found the people to be all really helpful and friendly.

Hope this helps.
