maggie909 Posted May 27, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 27, 2004 We disembark the Dawn Princess in Whittier and will take cruise rail transfer to Anchorage. Our TA said we pick up our luggage at Eagan Center in Anchorage. How far is Eagan from the train depot, i.e., will we need cab? I have not seen anyone mention the Eagan Center pickup on any message board. Is this correct?
Budget Queen Posted May 29, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 29, 2004 The Egan Center is downtown - so is the train station. But you would need a cab for the distance unless you are VERY hardy with wheeled bags- all downhill. Budget Queen Posted May 29, 2004 #3 Share Posted May 29, 2004 Perhaps Princess also has transportation?
tadjr Posted May 30, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 30, 2004 I'm counfused. I thought they were coming in on the train to Anchorage and had to get their bags at the Egan Center. If this is the case, they wont have to worry about getting their bags uphill to town, they will already be downtown. The Egan Center is between 4th and 5th and C and D street. The train station is at 1st and somewhere close to D. It is uphill though. Maybe the hotel has a shuttle that you can take from one place to the other. Our hotel dropped us off at the train station. What hotel are you staying at? Is it downtown? If so maybe take the shuttle to the hotel and check in, then go get your bags? Also there might be more than 1 train into Anchorage. We passed a train about 1045-11 just south of Anchorage that was headed into town. Not sure if it was coming from Whittier or Seward though or what time it left there.
