Rental car in Halifax?

Has anyone ever rented a car in Halifax to go to Peggys Cover etc...

Is it hard to find your way around? Or is there a better way besides the ships tour?

Thanks!

Peggys Cove is an easy drive from Halifax. Mostly the drive is on a major highway.

Agree that Peggy's Cove is an easy drive. Just hope it is not foggy!

If you do rent a car and have spare time, the lovely village of Prospect enroute to Peggy's Cove is definitely worth the time. The view from the top of the hill just before you go down into the village is unbelievably beautiful. It would take about 30 minutes round trip off the main roadway to see this lovely place. :)

Look up Ace Car Rental on the WEB. I rented from them and they were $200 cheape than the big guys. The car I got was great.

You can't call them up but must book on the WEB. No call center means lower costs.

I rented at the airport. Not sure if they have a place in town but they are worth checking.

We just got back from our cruise on the Spirit. In Halifax I reserved a car with Budget. It's about 6 blocks from the pier. Both Alamo and Hertz are closer - about 2 blocks. Alamo is in the lobby at the Westin, Hertz is next door. We drove out to Peggy's Cove and beyond. There is a great freeway that will take you out of town and you can make a loop driving along the ocean back (or visa versa). It's also easy to get back to the freeway if you need to. We did get lost once, but the city isn't large and the map was easy to follow to get us back on track.
