smoking problems on valor?

Hi there!

We cruised Valor last winter. We are 2 heavy smokers. I really felt for our room steward. As long as you smoke in the designated areas you should be fine. The only cautions they really enforce are making sure the ship doesnt catch on fire.

You can smoke on all the outside decks on one side (they specified, but I have forgot which side). You can also smoke in your room, on your balcony (I highly recommend splurging for the balcony), in the bars and in the casino.

Let me know if you have other Valor ?s and I will be happy to help.

I don't think this poster is a smoker. They want to know if on this ship smoking is more of a problem then on other ships. You pretty much stated you are there to ruin it for the non-smokers especially your balcony neighbors who paid just as much as you to enjoy the clean sea air only to have it ruined by your constant blowing of smoke into their balcony. I know you don't do it on purpose. Mother nature does it for you. That being said you really have no control over smoking issues on any ship. It's just a fact of life that you may have choosen a week full of heavy smokers but then you may have picked a week with very few smokers on board. Your RCL ship had few smokers while you probably heard from someone who had a week full of smokers on the Valor the week they went. You can choose the ship you want, pick where you want to go and what week but you will never be able to pick the other 2000 +/- passengers going with you so there in lies the problem of not knowing if you will be bothered by heavy smokers or not.

Good luck! Maybe your week will be full of health caring passengers.

How many threads are you gonna start about this?

(Pass the popcorn):p

But they haven't gotten the answer they want yet!....GEEEEEEEEEEZ!

That's it I'm going to refrain from smoking on the Fantasy in 3 weeks so they won't be offended on the Valor.

Quite frankly I doubt there are many people out there who are out to ruin a cruise for anyone. Some folks smoke some don't. If the smoker is one that cares about being offensive and takes the right actions its not a problem for other people -- but until smoking is illegal its gonna happen. The non-smokers need to accept the fact that people smoke. The fact that they don't does not give them the right to "ruin" someone elses cruise either. For Gods sake the balcony has a pretty much constant 30 MPH wind blowing across it. I realize there are those out there who would say something intelligent like "Smokers DIE" or suggest such smart things as ban all smoking - but those folks are nit living with reality. This is pretty simple. If the smoke bothers you and it is being done in an authorized area - leave. If its not in an authorized area then the non-smoker should speak up and the smoker should put it out or move on.

Wow. The OP just asked a simple question. Im pretty sensitive to cigarette smoke. Although I've never been on the Valor I've been on four cruises. In most places it was never an issue except for the casino. That generally seemed to be pretty smoky.

Before I get flamed I will say that smokers tend to follow the rules about where smoking is allowed. And I also don't have problems with people smoking on their balcony. If you're in the cabin directly astern you may smell it if you're out there at the same time, but it doesn't last long on a ship doing 20 knots.

This is not an accurate statement. :p

For future reference to the OP:

You may want to consider RCCL (after the 1st of the year). They are banning smoking in all cabins (they still allow smoking on the balcony). But that will eliminate any smoke coming into your cabin from the hallways or from a cabin next door.

OR

Oceania does not allow smoking in the cabins or on the balconies. They are the most restrictive with only 2 small public places allowed for smoking.

No the OP asked a simple question TWICE in two different posts. Now pass the popcorn...and cigars please!

Was the Valor smoke free when she first sailed? I recall cruising with our little heathens and don't recall smoking being allowed?

Am I starting to lose my memory? I know they probally allowed smoking after a certain point of not selling the ship out..............Help!
