Carnival Expands Preferred Awards Program to Include New Golf and Spa Certificates spacer.gif 09/18/2007 spacer.gif MIAMI (September 18, 2007) – As part of the ongoing expansion of its “Preferred Awards” program for meeting and incentive travel planners, Carnival Cruise Lines is offering new all-inclusive certificates that can be used toward a round of golf for two or a couples spa treatment on board.

The new certificates, which are available in the form of a shipboard credit and can be purchased via the line’s Bon Voyage department, online at carnival.com or through any travel agent, complement the line’s wide-ranging “Preferred Awards” program designed to provide businesses with a convenient and creative way to reward top employees and encourage customer sales.

The certificates can be applied toward a golf outing for two at any of the 75 shoreside courses featured within Carnival’s comprehensive golf program, which features some of the most beautiful and challenging courses in the Caribbean, Europe, Mexico, and Hawaii. Certificates can also be applied toward lessons from a shipboard golf professional, as well as Nike-brand equipment rentals and purchases.

Certificates are also applicable toward a soothing spa treatment for two administered within the line’s modern and spacious Spa Carnival facilities, including massages, facials and wraps, as well as for organized exercise classes such as yoga, Pilates and spinning. A wide range of hair and nail salon services and treatments, as well as various hair-care and grooming products, are also available.

Purchased in $400 increments, the “Preferred Awards” certificates can also be divided between the purchase of golf and spa treatments on board, if desired.

“Carnival’s ‘Preferred Awards’ is already the most successful program of its kind in cruising and with these new all-inclusive golf and spa certificates for two, businesses are provided with even more flexible and convenient options for recognizing top employees and rewarding loyal customers,” said Richard Weinstein, Carnival’s vice president of corporate and incentive sales.

The new golf and spa certificates are the latest addition to Carnival’s wide-ranging “Preferred Awards” program, the leading program of its kind in cruise travel. “Preferred Awards” differs from other travel awards program in that the majority of costs are included in the initial cruise fare; recipients are only responsible for incidental expenses such as drinks and shore excursions.

Additionally, the certificates have very few blackout dates and are valid for 18 months from the time of purchase. Certificates can be used in such applications as sales incentives, customer rebates for high-ticket items, traffic builders for in-store and point-of-purchase sales and promotions, and employee motivation.

These amenities are available on Carnival’s fleet of 22 “Fun Ships” which operate voyages ranging from three to 18 days to the Bahamas, Caribbean, Mexican Riviera, Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, New England, Bermuda, Europe, the Greek Isles and South America. The line currently has three new ships scheduled for delivery between now and 2011.
