Best Excursion in Cozumel

I'm looking for suggestions on the best excursion!!

I am on the Mariner of the Seas 9/12/04, and will be stopping at this port. Going with a group of 6 people (three older) that are not all that much into water / beach.

What options are there in Cozumel? They would love tours, etc. I was told the Ruins are not work the visit?

Do you know where the best place to go for the excursions would be? (Anyplace cheaper than the cruise line?)

Your input is greatly appreciated.

Do you know if there are any tour operators in Cozumel (like in Jamaica - where there are tons of them) that are recommended to use?

I'd like to do a tour of Cozumel (and/or the ruins) if anyone knows of a good tour operator. I don't want to go through the cruise line.

Any suggestions?

Check on www.cozumelinsider.com for independent excursions. The much better ruins are found on the mainland, requiring a ferry crossing and a bus/car ride to get to. The ruins on the island are much less impressive. There is a museum in town to visit.
