Will they Cry for the Grand

Hi Folks,

 

Many here will have been to Greenock, well to day the QE2 came home to her place of birth the Clyde,for the last time she is a fine ship for being 40.

 

Will the Grand still be sailing when she is 40, will people cry when she sails for the last time.

 

Now the people of Greenock know how to welcome and say good bye to cruise ships , the best sail away I ever had was there a few years ago on the Golden.

Let's not dwell on the end of Grand's service. She's only 9 years old (going on 10 soon!).

 

I sure hope the ship makes it atleast 40 years. Grand Princess is an excellent ship and holds a very important place in the development of the cruise industry.

I love the Grand. Our first cruise was on her. If she lasts at least 30 more years, I will be watching from above when they retire her.:)

good question shogun. they might, if i'm around in 40 years, i might cry too. the older ladies in my family get very sentimental.

i doubt the grand will make 40 years. i certainly won't cry. it was a nice ship and all, but that's about it.

Alas, while she make 40 it may not be as a Princess ship. The first purpose built cruise ships are currently being transferred from their original lines to other fleets and they are only 25 years old.

Regal was only 16 yrs old when she was xfered. Royal Princess was about 20 yrs old.

 

I sure hope I am around when she becomes 40.... where ever she may be.
