All Things Miracle!!!!

Hi All...this is a huge thread! I wish I had time to read the whole thing. I have a few questions... We are planning on going on the Miracle March 13 09. I've been on the large ships and am nervous about going on a smaller one. I am a huge sun worshiper and am worried from the pictures that it doesn't look like there are a lot of chairs. Please tell me I'm wrong. We are also booking a balcony and I noticed there are some balconies right above the lifeboats. Has anyone been on one of those? Would you consider it obstructed? Thanks in advance for your help :)

Hi folks,

I don't usually start threads unless I'm asking questions. :p Some of you know that I have asked A LOT of questions in the past....LOL!!! Mr. Pete do you hear me? hahahahah :D:D Anyway, I thought it would be fun to start a thread about the Miracle. There are others about the Destiny and the Triumph and other ships in the Carnival fleet.

I absolutely fell in love with the Miracle. Maybe because it was my first "long" cruise? I don't know, but that ship and the crew really left a special place in my heart. The service was outstanding. The food was great. My husband and I had such a wonderful time. I have been on several vacations to the Caribbean, Europe, many states in the US, Mexico, Canada and in my opinion this cruise was the best vacation I have ever taken.

Anyone else want to talk about the wonderful Miracle? Craig (Chitowncruiserss), Ann (Mprucha) and others? I know you are out there. :D Any future Miracle cruisers we would love to hear from you also.

I just booked the Miracle's new internary from New York for September 09 and to top it off I got Cabin 6232. I am so very excited. Can't wait!

We never had a problem getting a chair by the adults pool and we would get there between 11 and noon. I can't comment about the main pool though, as we never sat over there. There are plenty of chairs on the deck above the pool deck. I doubt you will have a problem up there.

Hi,

From searching I see that yogurt is served at many of the buffets, but is it in individual containers or in a larger bowl or crock that you spoon out your own portion? I ask because my son eats a lot of yogurt and it would be great to have some in the cabin for him.

And because you guys seem to know everything!!! :)

If yogurt is served in individual portions do they offer a variety of flavors and (even better) are yogurt containers available through room service?

TIA!

I'm going to be doing a ship inspection on May 1st - if anyone wants any particular pictures of anything, let me know and I'll try to accomodate :)

Mona what do you mean by a ship inspection?

I am interested in pictures of the adult pool area. Thanks.

Only 32 days till we sail.

Each morning the buffet located on the Lido has different types of yogurt in small individual containers, 4oz I think. I love yougurt too! I'm not sure if it will be delivered to your room but if you have a refridgerator in your room you could take a yogurt from the Lido in the morning.

The yogurt is in individual cups. I take a yogurt and a milk back to the cabin fridge at least a couple times during the cruise.

I think there are about 4 flavors. I don't know about room service.

Wow there is an adults only pool?? How great! I would think that would be crowded. But you said you didn't have a hard time getting a chair...so that gives me hope.

Yup, there is an adults only pool. And when we were there, I saw security enforcing the rules. Didn't have a hard time finding a chair at all. We even were able to get two chairs together right by the pool. Now, there are no guarantees that you will have the same experience that we did. Every sailing is different. Hopefully, you won't have a problem either. :D

I was looking at which cabins were available for our cruise and I usually book a guarantee and have always been happy. I have noticed with this ship there are a lot of obstructed balcony rooms. Are they really obstructed or are the considering it obstructed because the lifeboats are below? I'm thinking twice about booking a guarantee. Any advice would help...

I think you can search within the thread, because I'm sure that someone, way back, posted about the obstructed-view and the cabins with the french doors.

ALL the extended balcony cabins have their straight-down view obstructed by the life boats. That's why, if I were booking a Spirit-class balcony again, I'd just go for a regular balcony.

This is the view straight down from 7192.

But that isn't what they're referring to when they say "obstructed." Those are the cabins with the lifeboats right in front of you.

Nope, not true NCT. The extended balconies on the Upper deck are towards the front of the ship and aren't blocked by lifeboats at all.

Hi all,

Sandi is right about the extended cabins toward the front of the ship. They aren't obstructed. Also, I agree they are talking about a difference from a truly obstructed balcony verses a balcony with the life boats below the deck leve. The life boats are right below Empress deck so if you have a balcony there your view straight out isn't obstructed at all but you're view straight down is somewhat obstructed. We had a balcony suite on Empress last year and the lifeboats were below us and it wasn't a bother at all. Many of the cabins on Empress that have the lifeboats toward the front are category 11 suites.

T-bear416, you're very welcome for the sofabed pictures. If there's anything I can answer or have pictures of ask and I'll try to help!

Zillabe, we didn't have any trouble finding pool chairs at either the aft pool or the main pool throughout the day. There are people that others consider "chair hogs".....the ones that come out at 7am and try to "save" the chairs by putting items in the chairs to hold them and then they don't return for hours and hours. The aft pool is slightly less crowded though so it is usually easier to find one there.

Also, yes the adult only pool is on the lido deck aft (very back) of the ship. It's called the Orpheus pool. There's a bar back there as well.

As for nausea from a smaller ship.....believe me, the ship is big enough that it definately doesn't feel small. If you base the nausea on the size of the ship then you probably will have no trouble. Just make sure you take stuff with you just in case....dramamine, bonine, ginger pills, sour candy, sea bands, etc etc.....fresh air does wonders as well.

Ah, you're correct. I was under the impression that only the "recessed" cabins were extended. I see that that one area on Upper, forward, are also extended. Too far forward for me and my motion problems, though.

Still, if I coughed up the dough for a suite, I think I'd want a clear view in all directions. I didn't hate the balcony, but I really think I'd just go for a "regular" next time. In my dreams, I could get a corner wrap, but that's never going to happen so I try to not think about them. :(

Maybe a "regular" aft some day!

Miracle was the first ship on which I suffered no seasickness problems, and I attribute that to adding Ginger tablets to bonine (1 each, am & pm). I even felt so good I dropped the bonine when we had the 3 consecutive port days. We had choppy seas the first day and big swells the last and NO problems. I cannot express how happy that made me!

Hill: A ship inspection is when you are allowed to go on the ship, with special permission, to do a tour of the ship. My mom is a travel agent, and I am helping her run this group of 275 that is coming onboard on the 25th. We are going to be making large use of the Mad Hatter Lounge, and also she will need to see where band members can store their instruments between days. We will be allowed to board the ship at 11:30 on the 1st, and will be given lunch and a tour before being escorted off before the ship sets sail.

What is the big deal if you look down at lifeboats? How often do you look straight down? Just curious.
