All Things Miracle!!!!

Hi Sandi - Again thank you for starting this thread. I'm so excited for my upcoming cruise. I'm driving everyone around me crazy (more than usual). :D

To NCT - My mother who gets terribly seasick seems to always be ok on cruise ships, even in rough weather. She takes a ginger pill every morning and every evening and she's fine.

I'm glad I started this thread also. Since I don't have any cruises on the horizon now, I get to relive the Miracle through this thread. :D

Whew!, thanks Sandi.

I always tend to over pack for vacations and I vowed I would not do it for this cruise. My goal is to pack one small/medium suitcase, one hanging bag for suites and formalwear and one small carry on. Think I can do it? LOL. My luck it will be 3 large cases and two hanging bags and one super large carry on. At least that's what it would have been on past vacations!

Many thanks,

Rob

I refuse to get sick on this cruise. I just won't allow it!

Thanks to the wealth of info I've discovered on these boards, I'm going to switch from Dramamine to Bonine and I purchased my Ginger tablets last weekend. I also have the sea bands. Miracle is my largest ship yet, so I'm hoping that will help, too.

I will enjoy every second of this cruise! :)

Yes, I've seen all the pics.

And I've also said, next time I feel like I'm going to hurl on a ship, I'll be sure to find one of those folks who seem to think it's amusing and get very close to them before I start to retch.

Question: are there hand sanitizer stations on the Miracle?

I've purchased two small bottles to take, but I thought I'd read that a lot of ships now have them at the entrances to the restaurant(s) and buffet.

The place where I think they should be is in the casino.

Just curious.

I didn't see any. Maybe they have them now. I just washed my hands at least 10 times a day. Every time would see a bathroom, I would go in. What they did have in there were those tissue type things so you didn't have to touch the door handles. I used those. We also used our own hand sanitizers but I liked washing with regular soap and water much better.

Since ya'll are talking about problems with seasickness, I thought I'd tell you what helped me tremendously. I have tried ginger pills without any success. The patch works, but leaves me in a fog and gives me a headache. Bonine puts me to sleep. Before this last cruise, I ordered a Relief Band. It looks like a cheap, ugly plastic watch, but this thing works. It sends out a light intermittent electric shock, which you control the intensity of. This little shock must be directly over an acupressure point on the inside of your wrist. It is not uncomfortable at all. Any time I felt a little queazy, I'd turn the Relief Band on, and within minutes or even seconds, the nausea was gone. After a few minutes, I could turn the band off, and I had no more nausea. I used it several times, as needed. However, I did not feel the need to wear it all the time. These bands are expensive and seem to be in short supply. Google it for the best price. I found mine on ebay for $89, but when it came, the batteries were dead, so I had to spend $5 more on new batteries. Still, it was the best cruising investment I've ever made!

Hi! This is my first ever post but Ive been reading for almost a year doing research and getting lots of useful info for our upcoming cruise on the Miracle in June 2008. Im not sure if I have a question or a comment. I guess its a little of both. Ive been reading the recent cruise reviews from the Miracle and noticed that when most people talk about the "negatives" on their cruise, they all seem to consistantly mention the same things. Im wondering if anyone reports their complaints directly to Carnival either while still on the ship or upon return so they can address these issues. They seem like pretty simple fixes and you would think Carnival would start noticing people are complaining about the same things and want to make adjustments. The common issues seem to be 1) embarkation process 2) crowded/unorganized eating stations 3) people with no shirts/shoes in buffet lines 4) generally rude guests. There have been other complaints that Ive heard more than once but I take most with a grain of salt.

Has anyone had these same experiences and if so, did you complain directly to Carnival? I just dont want our cruise experience to be ruined by a few issues that didnt have to exsist if attention was given to them by the cruise line.

Hey Griswolds - what date in June are you sailing the Miracle? We are sailing on her on June 2, '08. If that is your date, be sure to go to the roll call!!

Now that's the spirit! You just gave me a good laugh. I would actually love to see that happen, the person who is making fun of the sick person gets puked on, and then pukes him/herself. I don't why I find this so amusing. :p

On here a couple posters didn't like it but over on the RC board they were really bashing the Miracle. :(

Hey Sandi - What exactly is the Eagle award? And is it an industry wide award - or just a Carnival thing? I have sailed both RC and Carnival and I am really anxious to sail this "Miracle" I keep hearing so much about. I hope this thread survives for a very long time - or at least 7 months! I go along pretty good in real life not thinking about it and going on with life as usual - then I get on here and get all excited again! I'm glad the holidays are coming up - that time will go really fast and then it will only be 5 months till we sail!!

Ecstasy won it this year...

"***

The award is presented annually by Carnival to the shipboard team that receives the highest ratings from the line’s comprehensive guest comment card system, in which guests are asked to rate their "Fun Ship" cruise experience in a wide range of categories, including crew service and friendliness, on-board cuisine and entertainment, and children’s programming. ***"

So, appears it's a Carnival thing. Still, nice that Miracle won it (couple of years, yes?).

Ohh so it is a Carnival thing. Didn't know that. Yes, the Miracle has won it a couple of times. Ohh and to add....when I sailed her the award was still there. It was located by the atrium elevators.

Yes that is the arcade.. We played some games in there.. Just FYI- it seems as the cruise goes on, there isnt anyone to empty the machines- so when they get full of tokens/quarters they dont work..

Hoping for a review soon from the 1st FLL sailing of the season. They should've returned yesterday, I think.

Looking forward to "any" review.

You get seasick?

My understanding is that they return tomorrow (Tuesday) morning, as I'm waiting for them to get off so that I can get on :D
