Kite Flying on Ship

I can think of two scenarios that could be dangerous/problems....

1 - if the wind carries the kite over the ship it could tangle in the superstructure, radars or antennas.

2 - if the Kite drops into the sea, a 22 knot drag could be quite strong, and your kite is suddenly waterlogged and will have to drag into the most turbulent water behind the thrusters. I don't think they want passengers trying to pull heavy things out of the water, leaning over the railing...

LOL!! Bill, did you ask Carnival for a refund because "they" ruined your entire cruise??? :p

Nah I was quite happy with my resolution. I got a free cruise and was allowed to wear shorts on formal night while having a crying baby at my table.:D Not bad considering I was the one that was flying the kite.;)

True, but the OP specifically asked if they could bring their own kite to fly onboard the ship. ;)

Sorry!! For some reason I read that wrong... not the OP but the Carnival rules part... it struck me as "you can fly a kite from the ship as long as the ship was in port"

but going back and reading it again, I see that it's not saying that... it's actually saying you have to fly the kite FROM port, and not on the ship!

forgive me!! I'm running on a lack of sleep here!!

I was flying my kite

from the stern of the ship

When a wind gust caught it,

and my feet began to slip.

It pulled me off the deck,

and into the sea.

With the kite a pulling,

I began to ski.

The wind blew stronger,

we began to fly

A dummy on a string,

soaring in the sky.

I landed in Jamaica.

The locals said “Hey Mon!”

“We don’t know what you're smoking,

but can you get us some?”

The moral of this story,

as you can plainly see.

Don't fly your kite from the ship,

If you can not ski.
