DON"T GO! We just returned from a cruise on Celebrity. We did an excursion trip to Marigot Bay to spend the day on the "beach". After a 30 minute minimum bus ride with no commentary from our driver as to anything on the island we arrived to an overcrowded area where there was supposed to be shopping. There were 3 small stores and a deli/grocery. You had to take a 3 min. boat ride across the water to the "beach". The "beach" was a small peninsula of dirty sand and not even the beautiful blue water characteristic of the Caribbean. It was overcrowded - no chairs, no shade, no umbrellas left - in fact you were lucky to find a place to spread a towel. It is the only "beach" for a number of resorts along the hills of the bay so naturally people staying at the resorts flock there early. The only restrooms on that side were in the only restaurant - "Doolittles", which of course you had to be a customer at the restaurant to use. To be fair that also gave you use of their small pool and minimal chairs - However it is doubtful you would have time since it took us 1 1/2 hours to be served 2 drinks and an order of fries -AFTER being seated! Other customers were experiencing the same ridiculous wait. We were not the only ones in our excursion dissatisfied. Several couples paid a taxi driver extra to return them to the ship early. It was a waste of a day on beautiful St. Lucia. Marigot Bay may be beautiful in films - after teh crew has cleared out the people and put a blue filter on the camera for the water - but in reality it was VERY unappealing.
