E&B Posted September 25, 2007 #1 Share Posted September 25, 2007 We purchased a couple of $20 Wine & Fruit baskets for our cruise last August. I remember at the time they had a $30 Captain's basket and my research here said that it was just more fruit. I just went to order one for my Dad and brother, who are taking their first cruise, and NCLs site no longer lists the $20 Bon Voyage basket, just the $30 Captain's basket. Was this too much of a bargain for NCL to keep selling?? For that price, I think I'd rather make arrangements to purchase another bottle of wine by itself, rather than the basket. Is this possible? To pre-purchase some wine and have it delivered to their cabin as a gift?
Lthouselady Posted September 25, 2007 #2 Share Posted September 25, 2007 Yes, it has been discontinued. I bought three of them for my parents and two brothers for their August Majesty cruise. However, when I tried to get another for my sister on her September Majesty cruise, I was told that they are no longer available. I bought the $30.00 one instead. Yes, you can buy just wine and have it delivered. They have many things you can buy and have delivered. Everything from casino chips to shrimp platters. E&B Posted September 26, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted September 26, 2007 Thanks so much for the answer. I think I may order one $30 basket, just so they have the fruit, and then order a separate bottle of wine for them as well.
newmexicoNita Posted September 26, 2007 #4 Share Posted September 26, 2007 It was great deal, I just checked for clients sailing on Carnival: a similare package was either $32 or $36. It rather surprised me. I guess, for $20 it just wasn't profitable enough. Nita

Do they have the "bucket of beer" (6 for price of 5) like Princess? Or small bottle of alcohol and mixes to be sent to our cabin? I don't mind paying the outrageous amount....at least we'll have it in our room. Don't like wine!!!!!

Yes on buckets of beer (it's an American football style helmet of beer), but I don't know if you can order them for cabin delivery -- I just wandered up to a bar when we needed a new one. The helmet came in handy for chilling the bottle of sparkling wine we got as part of the romance package on our cruise, too -- the steward was kind enough to keep it on ice for us for two days until we drank it, and gracious enough never to blink at using a plastic football helmet as an ice bucket (to steal a Jeff Foxworthy line -- "the Clampetts go to Maui!") :)

Alcohol you must pre-order a bar set-up for your cabin (at least 2 weeks before sailing date) and either order mixers or carry the mixers on board yourself. Bar set-up is $3.00 delivery fee. isles1 Posted October 3, 2007 #14 Share Posted October 3, 2007 Does anyone know what beverage is included with "The Captain's Choice (non-alcoholic)" $30 package? We simply do not like wine, but the fresh fruit would be a nice touch for embarkation day. You think they would substitute a bucket of beer? :)

I don't know for sure, but I am guessing that it would be a sparkling cider (like Martinellis) or something along those lines....
