Can you hear the noise from the Casino if your cabin is directly above?

I apologize if this question has already been asked. Has anyone stayed in a cabin that is directly above the casino? Can you hear the noise from the casino. I'm wondering if we should switch cabins. We are sailing the Triumph and will be on the 6th deck.:)

On the Conquest two years ago, we were directly above the casino, and we heard the noise, but not enough to keep us up at night, well, me anyway, i wear earplugs. Not only did it keep the casino noise away, but heard there were kids running up and down the halls all nite, but didnt hear that either. :D

Thanks for your replies. We are a family of 4, with 2 children, so I'm still a little worried about the noise level from the casino. We might be able to change our cabin to one towards the front of the ship, but I'm worried about the motion if we switch to that cabin. Any other thoughts on this subject?:)

Virtually every cabin on the ship may have something wrong with it. - noise from casino, across from elevators, too far from elevators, too much motion, too name a few. Choose to focus on all the good stuff and you will not notice the bad. It is easy to find good stuff - you are on a cruise after all!

That's the truth. When I went to bed I put my wallet in the safe with $100. When I woke up 6 hours later my money was gone and I had a bill in my wallet for $20! :eek:

Do they shut the casino down or is it open all night?

 

I agree with the above poster, craps can be a very loud game, I think it may be a problem if the casino is open all night.

 

I also agree that there is probably a downside to any cabin you choose. So weigh your options and make a decision on what you think is best for your family.

We had a cabin on the Liberty on the 4th sailing of the Europe cruise, and yes the casino noise was bad. We did make a complete after the second night and they actually turned the ringers down after about 10:00 pm each night, and offered us ear plugs. DH could not use them, as he already has a ringing in his ear problem and these would only increase that noise.

 

It was still noticable but not enough to ruin the rest of the cruise. I just make sure now that when I book a cabin I look at what is above and below the cabin. I always book a particular room and not a guarantee

All I can say from experience is don't book a cabin under the gym (men dropping weights early in the morning) and over the theatre (and under, I suppose).

I appreciate all your comments--including the funny ones!:D Since we have kids, we haven't spent much time actually in the Casinos and don't tend to stay up late, either.

 

We still have time to switch cabins if we want, so all your feedback is a big help. I agree most cabins have one problem or another. We have been lucky to book cabins that have been fine. The only cabin we didn't like was the one that was almost completely in the back of the ship, since we felt a lot of motion. I guess we have to decide if we can handle noise or motion, since our other cabin option is towards the front of the ship.:)

The only time we ever heard the noise was when the slot machine bells would go off when someone won, and YES, it was loud.

 

But worse yet was being above the piano bar on the Glory. I swear, that guy was in our bed everynight until 2am.

 

We learned our lessons, and now book cabins in better locations. :)

yes you can hear it but it's drowned out by the sounds of slamming doors across the hall..... :)

Thank you all for your experiences. I hadn't really thought about being below the gym, or above the piano bar as being a problem, so I'm happy to learn this as well.

 

Since we aren't usually up late at night, and the kids may have trouble sleeping if there was more noise, we're leaning towards changing our cabin. Does anyone know if most cabins on the 6th deck (Triumph) will hear more noise, since it's directly above the promenade?:)

For the Team Splendor cruise in 09, I have a cabin directly over the casino, which I said would be fine because I'd problably be down there most of the time anyway, so the noise won't bother me (unless, of course, I hear someone yelling because they won and then I'll just be jealous.....).
