steel123 Posted September 29, 2007 #1 Share Posted September 29, 2007 We are currently booked on the Truimph in cabin #6316, a quad cabin. It's directly above the casino. Should we keep this cabin or change it? Should we avoid cabins on Deck 6? Our other options on this deck are 6341, which is above the promenade area, or 6264 and 6265, which are towards the front of the ship and closer to the lounge, but I am concerned about the motion. Lastly, I'm wondering if we should just move to a midship cabin on Deck 2, to avoid the noise issues. Any thoughts/opinions are appreciated.:)
serene56 Posted September 29, 2007 #2 Share Posted September 29, 2007 6316 is tucked into the corner of the casino= you wont hear nothing from that area. 6265 is too far of a walk to the food/pools. conviently located by elevators. (pros/cons) going to the main deck--be careful NOT to take a cabin under the galley. Here is where you will definitly hear noise-- 24 hours a day. IMHO- stay where you are. steel123 Posted September 29, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted September 29, 2007 serene56, I appreciate your opinion. I've been worrying about this since we booked this cabin, since we have children, and don't often stay up too late. Thanks, again, for your input.:)

Thanks, again, for your input.:) your cabin is picked-- and its good. now its time to move on to the next stress... worrying about what to do in each port. Have you visited the port of calls boards? are you aware of the overnight PJ parties the kids have in the camps??
steel123 Posted October 1, 2007 Author #5 Share Posted October 1, 2007 serene56, now I can get excited about this cruise! I've spent a little time looking on the ports of call boards, but I need to do some more research. Thanks for the tip about the overnight party. I'll have to see if the kids are interested. I'm also trying to figure out what to do in San Juan, since we arrive at 5:00pm. I wish we were arriving earlier because I'd love for the kids to see the forts (they close around 6:00pm). I'll need to find something kid-friendly. I'll check the boards for this, too! :)
serene56 Posted October 1, 2007 #6 Share Posted October 1, 2007 We cruised the Victory to the port of San Juan. Arrived a bit before 5. We stayed on the ship to eat dinner then we ventured out. Go off the pier and head left=- there is a vistor center there that can give you an idea on what to do with kids... we just took the left and walked the coblestown street to the end-- which gives you the ocean. There are lookout towers there-- depending on the age of your kids-- you can give them a brief discription if what it was like back in the day when Pirates tried to invade to get the buried treasure= they can lookout the towers and see the site. turning right will get you some guards standing at these 2 VERY huge doors which the two guards were great with telling stories to my kids.. this took us to the stores== which were opened til late and we just windowed shopped. if you get there about 3pm-- (dont count on it) taking along a copy of http://www.frommers.com/destinations/sanjuan/0323010008.html which gives you a two hour walking tour. (i also would check on that 6pm closing time. As their web sites state they close at 5:pm.. and thats totally closed-- they dont let you in at 5 of and close the gates at 5 exctly. steel123 Posted October 2, 2007 Author #7 Share Posted October 2, 2007 serene56, Thanks for this information. It sounds like a good plan. Did you eat in the Lido restaurant to save time? I'm thinking we should leave the ship as early as possible, since we don't want to be out that late with the kids (I wish they would have a daytime arrival for our sailing so the kids could see Old San Juan during the day--maybe we'll have to try to go here again on a future cruise!!!). Also, thanks for the frommer's link! We will also check out the Visitor Center, too. :)
serene56 Posted October 2, 2007 #8 Share Posted October 2, 2007 No, we ate in the dining room at 5:45. We were back on the ship by 10. Heading out to the port when the ship docks will be uber crowded. Wait a bit and the crowds will be thinned out some. I was surprised to see the amount of people in the dining room. But if you dont want to do the dining room there are several options available- Lido will be opened at 4:30. Pizza is 24 hours. Deli or the grill for burgers/hotdogs/grilled chicken sandwhiches. steel123 Posted October 2, 2007 Author #9 Share Posted October 2, 2007 Thanks for your reply. We always eat in the Dining Room, so it sounds like that would work to avoid the crowds leaving the ship. I appreciate all your tips!:)
sptree Posted December 14, 2007 #10 Share Posted December 14, 2007 Hi Steel123: We are on the Triumph in room 6325 in March. When are you going? I will be interested in hearing about the set up of your quad room. Are the two uppers on opposite walls or are they corner to corner? I've seen pictures of both. Thanks! Thanks! right-- it depends on where the cabin is located. Most inside cabins have them across the room from each other. (your best bet is to keep your lower beds under the upper beds instead of placing them together) more cabin floor space to get around. an over the door shoe holder will come in mighty handy for 4 people in a cabin. hockeyluver Posted December 16, 2007 #12 Share Posted December 16, 2007 here are some pictures from our quad inside cabin on the Triumph we were in 6414, we had our two teen daughters with us, it got a little crowded when we were getting ready for dinner but other than that it was great. Cant wait to get back on the Triumph, this time daughters will be in a cabin with friends and dh and I get an extended balcony L shaped cabin. When we went into San Juan we ate on the ship before getting off (it was filet mignon night) when you get off if you want to use cheap internet, there is a long building you go through and just before you go outside on the right hand side is an internet cafe. jwlnroe Posted December 17, 2007 #13 Share Posted December 17, 2007 since this is about the triumph thinking of changing our room to 6292 or 6296 which isn't far from the OP's room. . is that an ok spot as far as noise? we are currently booked up on the empress but the rest of our party is in the same area as the room I would change to on the Upper deck. . also I have one more question for serene. . the interiors that look larger in the deck plans on the upper deck.. are they actually bigger or handicap rooms? just a question my parents and sister and husband are in 2 of those rooms so just wondering if they are the same as the regular interiors. Thanks

Thanks I suggest staying where you are- it really isnt all that important to be in the general vacinity of your party. Youwont be in the cabin all that much. Meet up in another area. There are also house phones throughout the ship that you could call each other cabins.. Phones are set up with voice mail--if you set it when you get in the cabin. the reason i am not liking either of those cabins-- on either side is cabins that hold 4 people. Triumph allows rollaways--so you could be next door to 5 young teens.-- No thanks. try to keep the cabins on either side with only 2 people in there -- are you talking about the interior rooms on the inside of the hallways. The cabins are the same sq footage size. they are set up different though

Ok one more question. . we will stay on the empress deck but our room is 7260 which is right by the stairs/elevator. I just noticed 7316 is opened which is more midship. should we grab that one or just stay put? lol you've been so helpful just thought i'd ask you one more quick question. YOu just dont realize how often you will be making that trek to the buffet during the course of your week-- by Thirsday that walk will seem to far away...LOL- the closer to the aft elevators will be better- what time did you request for dinner? jwlnroe Posted December 18, 2007 #17 Share Posted December 18, 2007 ok i switched to 7316 now. . i couldn't get ahold of my pvp so i just did it online myself. we requested main second seating at 6:15 I believe.

Come out your cabin and turn left- get on those elevators to get you to your dining room. -- to get to the food at the buffet-- walk to the next set of elevators which will take you directly thre. 7316 is good since there are only 2 people on either side of you. Please call your agent and make sure ALL your reservations are linked together so you can be dining together.
