seacats Posted October 1, 2007 #1 Share Posted October 1, 2007 How many times around to equal a mile? I figure I'll be needing it after all those great meals I keep reading about.
robertwcook16 Posted October 1, 2007 #2 Share Posted October 1, 2007 I just returned from the Noordam yesterday. It is 3 times around the promenade deck = 1 Mile. They did close off the promenade deck one day at sea when it was a little rough & wet.
jtl513 Posted October 1, 2007 #3 Share Posted October 1, 2007 I'm pretty sure it's 3. I know the Statendam we were just on said it was 4 times around, or 1320 feet per lap. The Vistas are 230 feet longer (460 per lap) so 5280/1780 would work out to 2.97! :) robertwcook16: I was still calculating while you were posting! :)
meidda Posted October 3, 2007 #4 Share Posted October 3, 2007 How did you like the Noordam? I am booked for Feb 08 but worried that it will be too sedate. Were there a good mix of generations, what did you think of the activites, food, staterooms etc. I have only been on the Crown Princess and did enjoy that very much. Thanks
robertwcook16 Posted October 4, 2007 #5 Share Posted October 4, 2007 I loved the Noordam !!! The ship is beautiful. I have cruised on Celebrity & Carnival & this is by far the nicest, most sophisticated ship I have been on. The service is impeccable. The mix of people was mostly over 55 with some younger couples & a few families. I am in my mid 40's & felt very confortable. There are plenty of things to do into the late evening hours. Not many people in the disco but that is OK with me. I did do an Alaska cruise which I think is an older demographic anyway. The Lido Restaurant was the only place that ever realy felt crowded at times. The Explrer's Cafe really got alot of use by us that week. It is a most comfortable place to wile away an afternoon with a good book & coffee. The pool areas were never really crowded ever. Some people did use the outdoor pool area as well as the Lido pool, even though it was in the 50's. With an older crowd you don't have as much noise or sometimes, rudeness like on Carnival.
