Can you get a 1 way rental in Houston

We are flying into George Bush and are trying to rent a car and drop it off by the pier in Galveston. Does anyone know which rental company does this?

Check into Hertz and Enterprise. A lot of it depends on what day you are sailing. There is usually a one way drop off fee though.

We are doing this in Janurary - through Hertz - prices we not too bad. book online at Hertz.com for the better rates though I found.

The problem is that only Hertz and Enterprise have dropoffs in Galveston. And one or both of them is closed on Sundays so if your ship leaves on Sunday it may not be the best choice.

In early November of 2006, we rented a one way rental from Galveston to Hobby airport in Houston. This worked out very well because we had all day in Houston and we had never been to Houston.

 

However, Bush airport is farther away in terms of distance and a lot more traffic. And it is my understanding that there are transportation companies that go from Bush airport to Galveston for a very reasonable price. I would use a transportation company instead of a rental car if all you want to do , is go from the airport to Galveston...less hassle all around.

Enterprise does not have one-way drop off charges for cars rented in Texas. You will need to check to see if the office is open on the day you want to drop it off though.

We have rented 1 way twice from Hertz (Houston Hobby) for Galveston drop off. Reasonable price, drop off car about 1 to 2 miles from pier. Hertz has a free shuttle to pier. AAA discount. Check on if available from GB. Also rented 1 way from Galveston back to Hobby once. Call and talk to a person at Hertz to get exact details on this service for when you are going.
