amptravel Posted September 26, 2012 #2351 Share Posted September 26, 2012 They sold it to one of their other cruise lines. Pulmantur. I leaves the fleet in March or April 2013. Monarch fans would know the exact date and will tell you soon, I'm sure. Gina I just called RCCL few days ago -- was told the last VOYAGE (a 3-night) will be March 29, 2013. Hope this helps. brianjb Posted September 26, 2012 #2352 Share Posted September 26, 2012 We sail out on October 8 for a 4 day trip. This is our first time on RCI. Looking forward to being on the Monarch before she goes onto her next journey in life.
Beachgirl19 Posted September 27, 2012 #2353 Share Posted September 27, 2012 We booked a guaranteed OV cabin for a January sailing this past weekend on Monarch at an unbelievable savings, also got to apply $50 C&A coupon reducing the cost even more. That being said, I was fully prepared to have the lowest category I room, and would have been fine with it, due to the amazing deal we got on the cruise itself. However, the upgrade fairy just showed up!!!!!!!!! We received our cabin assignment today, only six days after booking, and are in an F2 OV stateroom on Deck 5 !!! YAY for the upgrade fairy! Thanks, Royal! :) *happy dance!* Can't wait 'till January!
Trainer Posted October 28, 2012 #2354 Share Posted October 28, 2012 For those of you planning a Monarch cruise before she leaves the fleet: Mitch is an excellent CD. He is much better than the one on Monarch when we were on in June. jHe handled the problems with Hurricane Sandy (Oct.22-26) with great finesse and humor. He has lots of energy and is very friendly to talk to. He was everywhere and really seemed to enjoy his job. Mitch should go far!

ln88 Posted December 29, 2012 #2356 Share Posted December 29, 2012 Which drinks are included in the price of the cruise? I cruised the Monarch last year. From what I remember only water, juice and milk was included .. I purchased a soft drink package and they also passed out (1) complimentary drink for each of the guests during a few of the evening shows. If you are looking for alcoholic drinks, you will be paying for each one! Or you can purchase a wine package, from what I remember it was reasonably priced. CptSticky Posted December 30, 2012 #2358 Share Posted December 30, 2012 Wow, I thought this thread was long dead. Didn't even realize that I still had it bookmarked. Last month in Nassau we were in port the same day as the Monarch. As we left, the DW and I touched the mooring ropes of the Monarch because we figured it would be the last time that we ever saw her. kimkatmom Posted February 2, 2013 #2361 Share Posted February 2, 2013 We are leaving on monarch in 2 weeks and have booked cabins 8072 & 8096. Wondering the bed situation - is it a sofa bed or bunk? Usually stay in balcony rooms so not sure what to expect except small. Any help is appreciated.

Wondering the bed situation - is it a sofa bed or bunk? Usually stay in balcony rooms so not sure what to expect except small. Any help is appreciated. Are they interior rooms? Last time I had an inside, and it was tiny! There was one additional pullman bed, but really to have three adults in that little room is really pushing it. There's no sitting area in there, so no way a sofa bed would fit. If it's not an interior, then never mind me. :D

Any help is appreciated. 8072 is for 2 people with twin beds than can be pushed together to make a queen. 8096 is for 3 people, with the same twin beds as 8072, plus a pullman bed that extends down out of the ceiling, in which a ladder is used to climb into. kimkatmom Posted February 3, 2013 #2364 Share Posted February 3, 2013 Wrong cabin 8070 is the other cabin. I know it will be tight for 3 adults. Can you tell me where the third Pullman bed is located in the room. Does it interfere with the double bed?

Either I'm losing my mind, or we have 2 threads with the same posts. 8070 is also for 3 people, connecting with 8068. Pullman bed is over the twin beds. rasjart Posted February 12, 2013 #2366 Share Posted February 12, 2013 I was on the Monarch Jan. 2013 so here is my quick review: Port Canaveral is the easiest port I have cruised out of, no lines at all. It took 20 min from the time we were dropped off to get through registration, security scan, quick picture, and to the lunch buffet. We carried on our bags, which I always do on a short cruise and our rooms were ready at 1:00. Muster drill was simple. On day one they have a free gaming lesson in the casino followed by low minimum betting at all the tables, just $1. from about 5:30 to 7:00. It was fun. We were on a wait list for 3 weeks hoping to get "My time Dining" but when I checked in it still wasn't available. After the first night in the main dining room we were seated with a large group that we didn't mix well with so I asked to be changes to a table for two for the following nights and they made it happen. I really appreciated this. Went to the show that night. Stayed for the comedy portion and then left. Day 2 CoCo Cay: Loved this stop!!! Great Island. Great snorkeling. We snorkeled from the beach, very easy if you have younger kids or for a fist timer. We had our own equipment but you can rent it on CoCo Cay. There are lots of fish to see and a sunken plane wreck and ship. Very fun. We snorkeled about 2 hrs then had a great Barbecue lunch on the beach. Better than I've had on other private island stops. We walked the island, very pretty. Hammocks to lay in the shade and lots of chairs. There are also inflatable kids play toys in the ocean. We didn't use then but just walk over and check them out and day a fee, get a wrist band. This area is down the beach and is where most of the families with kids were hanging out. Only complaint is Tender line to get off the boat was slow. Took about 30 min. Day 3 Bahamas: We did the AquaAdventure at Atlantis, expensive, but worth it. Had a blast. The grounds and water park is great. Don't miss the big "Current River Rapids" this water ride s a mile long as you get pushed through the rapids, very fun. This is different from the lazy river which is near the Beach Tower. We booked through the ship for $127. about the same price at Atlantis but next time I would just go directly there and buy the arm band. I don't like to wait and we had to wait as a group for about 30 min past the 9am meet time just to walk as a group off the pier and load onto a bus. Wish we would have just gone on our own. There are plenty of threads about Atlantis so this is all I will report. It wasn't crowed. Day 4 at Sea: Basic at sea day, things going on around the ship, lots of funny pool contests. We went to the speciality Restaurant "Jade". It was empty so folks were missing out on this experience. You pay al a carte so we just got the beef tenderloin/chicken comes with rice and veggie $8. and it was a very large serving. Salads sushi are all additional. The fun thing is you cook your own food at your table on a hot lava stone. This is a great thing to do with older kids and teens. My son loved it. We went there early at 6pm and if you can believe it, then at 8:30 went to our late seating in the dining room and ate again! My son wants to be a chef so we took advantage of enjoying the evenings and trying lots of wonderful food. Some highlights of dinner over the 4 days for us were: Duck and the Sea Bass Pros: Food was excellent, service was great, RCCL now allows 2 bottles of wine to carry on!!! Cons: Tiny blurry TV in our room. Asked for repair but it didn't get any better. We like watching the rotating prime movies after a tiring day or before bed and TV was really in bad shape. Overall it was an excellent cruise.

givethemwings Posted February 20, 2013 #2372 Share Posted February 20, 2013 Who was the comedian on your sailing? Hi, we sailed on the Monarch from 2/11 - 2/15. Our first cruise, and we had a great time! The comedian on our sailing was Al Romas. We thought he was pretty funny; he did two shows. One night was around 7:30ish and the other was adult late night comedy at 10:30pm. Went to both. The cruise director was Marc Walker, and we really liked him too. I enjoyed his sense of humor. We just sailed the Monarch last week. Loved CocoCay - wouldn't mind just going there for a couple days. I love snorkeling. How did you like the Glass Bottom Boat tour? We did the Sea and See Tour in Nassau and saw a lot while on a submarine type boat; your tour looks like they might have explained more of what you were seeing. Would you recommend it?
