bankofdad Posted October 4, 2007 #1 Share Posted October 4, 2007 Is Liverpool's Chinatown within a comfortable walking from the dock, and can anyone suggest a good on-line resource for Liverpool maps? It seems that Chinatown is not highlighted as an attraction on the resources we've come across to this point. Any help is appreciated, and restaurant suggestions would be great!!! kate52 Posted October 4, 2007 #2 Share Posted October 4, 2007 Hi- I live close to Liverpool, but haven't seen the new cruise terminal so not sure where it is exactly. Seems to be right in the centre outside the Liver Buildings at the Pier Head. Pic of the QE2 here- http://www.nwda.co.uk/news--events/press-releases/200701/liverpools-cruise-liner-termin.aspx For Chinatown you want the Berry St/ Duke St junction. Maps here- http://www.liverpool.tourist-information-uk.com/maps.html another site with some tourist info http://www.cruiseliverpool.com/default.asp

Don't get too excited about Liverpool's Chinatown. Liverpool's once-thriving Chinese community has greatly reduced since the 1960's. Much of it has moved over to Manchester. Nowadays, 'Chinatown' in Liverpool is little more than a couple of streets full of restaurants, supermarkets and street signs with Chinese names on them. Still worth a trip if that's what interests you, but don't plan on more than a half hour there unless you are going to eat. It's a comfortable 15-20 minute walk from the cruise terminal.:) T
