budster Posted October 5, 2007 #1 Share Posted October 5, 2007 We will be staying about 4 blocks from Victoria Station. Can anyone give me advice on the best transportation to Heathrow. We will be traveling on a Sunday, if that makes a difference. Thanks in advance.
sea-explorer Posted October 5, 2007 #2 Share Posted October 5, 2007 There are underground trains running directly from Victoria to all terminals at Heathrow & direct trains from London Paddington. There are underground trains from Victoria to Paddington. In general, fewer trains run on a Sunday, but they are still reasonably frequent. I think there are about 2 direct underground trains an hour on a Sunday. You should be able to find train times and fares here. http://ojp1.nationalrail.co.uk/en/pj/jp
sea-explorer Posted October 5, 2007 #3 Share Posted October 5, 2007 PS. A taxi to Paddington is another option if you prefer to travel overground with your luggage. (The underground journey takes about 75 minutes, overground from Paddington is about 15 minutes.)
handfordr Posted October 5, 2007 #4 Share Posted October 5, 2007 National Express run full size buses from Victoria Coach Station direct to Heathrow. Fare is just 4 GBP, you get a guaranteed seat and a nice bus with toilets etc.
engineer38 Posted October 5, 2007 #5 Share Posted October 5, 2007 Don't want to start an argument, but from Victoria by Underground you'll need to change (District Line to Piccadilly Line), cross platform at Hammersmith is easiest). But, if you're travelling transatlantic with luggage, just get a black cab to the airport, you don't want to arrive at the airport tired out, and there won't be many traffic jams on a Sunday. sea-explorer Posted October 5, 2007 #6 Share Posted October 5, 2007 No argument from me engineer, (I keep away from the dreaded city, it frightens me ;) ) I usually drive to Heathrow. I actually meant to put the National Express link in but got sidetracked. so came back to do so. http://www.nationalexpress.com/ That is a much better bet handfordr. :) So depending on your budget, the bus or a taxi would be preferable. Spikesgirl Posted October 5, 2007 #7 Share Posted October 5, 2007 We just decided to heck with it and had our hotel arrange transport. For the three of us and six bags, the driver charged us a flat 50 pounds. We were at the Regency Court and it took less than an hour to get to Heathrow (on a week day!). He took us as close to our gate as we could possibly get and we were off. It isn't the cheapest, but it sure was easy and just how we wanted to start our journey home.
