Sandi149 Posted October 6, 2007 #2 Share Posted October 6, 2007 does anyone know if they give away free drinks at the bonvoyage party? The only free drinks that I know of are at the Captain's Party and the Past Guest Party. I do not remember any free drinks at sailaway.
Pegs222 Posted October 6, 2007 #3 Share Posted October 6, 2007 does anyone know if they give away free drinks at the bonvoyage party? There really isn't a bon voyage party. They just sail away and then they may have the Muster Drill about 45 minutes later. And after that, the bar and casino are open as well as the dinning room. In2why Posted October 6, 2007 #4 Share Posted October 6, 2007 does anyone know if they give away free drinks at the bonvoyage party? From what I have read they can seem like they are free when the waiters come around with the tray. But as soon as you sip that icy drink the waiter will ask for your sail and sign card. :) Can't remember who it said that could always tell the new cruisers by watching them get caught up in it. So the lesson of this story boys and girls is that just because the "bon voyage" drinks are already made up and on the tray with a smiling person offering them.....there is a charge. dclark Posted October 6, 2007 #5 Share Posted October 6, 2007 I think they still give free champagne on xmas/new years sailings, at least they did for my Xmas Victory cruise 04 and Glory New Years cruise
dbrucern Posted October 6, 2007 #6 Share Posted October 6, 2007 We were on the Glory for Christmas last year and it is the only time that we have ever received free drinks as the ship departed and that was champagne.

AllyCat81 Posted October 6, 2007 #10 Share Posted October 6, 2007 does anyone know if they give away free drinks at the bonvoyage party? LOL I WISH!!!! Those "funship" drinks on the first day would be a BIG problem for me if they were free! :D As everyone else said, the only free drinks are at the Captain's party, the past guest party, the art auctions, and when they have free liquor tasting. ;)

dclark Posted October 6, 2007 #13 Share Posted October 6, 2007 We were on the Glory for Christmas last year and it is the only time that we have ever received free drinks as the ship departed and that was champagne. Gotta love those holiday sailings, the only time you'll see my wife hammered at 1:00pm! Us oldtimers still remember the 'rum swizzle' parties they used to have, I think that was on the first day to "acquaint" you with the offerrings of the casino. suziehmkr Posted October 6, 2007 #16 Share Posted October 6, 2007 I think they still give free champagne on xmas/new years sailings, at least they did for my Xmas Victory cruise 04 and Glory New Years cruise 05 We boarded the Pride on NYE and we had free champagne almost all day of boarding.... they were walking around Mermaids with it,etc. They also passed it out for the evening up on deck. They also had free egg nog for the entire sailing... spiked & not-spiked. That wasn't well advertised, and we only noticed it at the pool bars. DH said it was quite good. Our friend also signed up for Carnival Vacation Club, so the guys would go by often and get their free champagne. :) I don't think I actually bought a drink until the Monkeys made their appearance. :p

LOL - The first thing I do when I step onto the Lido deck is head for one of the smiling servers, card in hand (still gold but working toward platinum:) ), and get a Funship Special to start my vacation! It's the only time all week that I go for one of the drinks of the day.

I remember those free rum swizzles in the casino and the sail away parties they used to have. The band was playing, people were dancing, it was lots of fun. Now, they don't do anything. Our group has our own sail away party with poppers and bubbles.
