Can't believe these grips!

Ok...so I decided to read up on some of the recent review of the CB.

What some people will complain about! I find that before taking a negative review seriously, I need to know why and what happened and read the review to see what is legit in their complaint.

Well a recent reviewer wrote a negative review because they were upset that they had booked an inside cabin and got an inside cabin. The complaint was that they were "promised" an upgrade and really wanted a balcony, even tho they had booked an inside!!! Well if they were promised an upgrade then they should be upset at whoever made the promise, because they were obviously deceived by the TA or whoever made the "promise", not Princess.

I know this thread will likely get pulled...but its important to evaluate what happened that the person wrote a bad review and to then determine whether their gripes were legitimate.

Well said VMom,

Gripes will always be there. Here's a list of the most popular if I recall. Please feel free to add to the list...then again maybe this has even been done previously.

a. Kids unruly behaviour

b. Chair hogs

c. Non formal dress in DR on formal night

d. Young infants peeing in the hot tubs

e. Bellyaching about musters during sailaway

f. Princess coffee (possibly the only valid gripe on the CC threads)

g. etc etc etc.

Ciao for now!!!

Well, I can add to the list...these from my 9/2 Trans Atlantic on the Grand Princess. I overheard these....

1) The pastrami sandwich on the menu one day was advertised as pastrami with kraut...Oh my goodness, people were assuming they were supposed to be reubens and were complaining all over.

2) One lady complained that she despised personal choice dining because the tables for 2 were along inside walls, not against the windows (guess she's never looked at the traditional dining room).

3) One 'lady' was complaining that the waiter forgot a salad for someone at the table (so why not mention it to him) and the he brought the wrong entree the first time (he realized it and corrected it).

Some people will never be happy...

One more for your list - missed ports of call. Guess some folks think the captain can or will just skip a port if he feels like it.

One poster was going to avoid Princess in the future because an airline lost his suitcase on his return trip...

Some folks just like to complain because it makes them feel in control of the situation. The ones complaining the loudest are usually the most insecure.

I can understand some venting, but my personal love is when the griper goes to the next level and accuses Princess of doing all these things just to increase their profits, and assumes anyone who disagrees in even the tiniest way must be a cruise-line employee planted here to hide "The Truth" from the rest of cruising public. They really do use big, bold letters like that.

LOL!

I love the first and only posters who want the world to know what a horrible cruise they had and post it as a "WARNING".

Hey I have a good one. I was on my very first Alaskan Princess cruise and was talking to a man who was REALLY complaining about the weather as nobody told him to bring a coat because he did not think Alaska was cold. Huh. He was from Florida so only had a light sweater. I asked him if he read the info that was sent to him about appropriate clothing and he told me he never read that stuff. ??????

It never ceases to amaze me that passengers have access to the internet to post reviews to complain, but not enough common sense to research things before their cruise? Many first posts here on CC have been from those that are here, as said previously, to warn people to stay away from a certain cruise line.

I have read more than one review or post from a passenger that was livid because they did not get upgraded from the category they actually booked. HUH? They bought a VW and expected a Rolls? Common sense prevails, and there are times, in reviews, it just doesn't sound like they used any at all. :(

We were on a cruise in the carib last year and the weather was terrible for 2 days. Rough seas, missed a port, half the ship sick. They were walking around blaming the SHIP !!!!!!!!!!!! Hello, I think the big guy up stairs a few more categories was probably more in control!!!!!!!!!

How do you blame the seas and weather on the ship, and they said they would never cruise this line (Celebrity) again. We heard so much of this line and look at what a terrible time we're having ...........

It never ends.....

I always laugh when someone blames the cruise line or the ship for 'bad weather' or 'bad flights' or things that the cruise line has absolutely no control over. But, in these times, everyone seems to have to lay the blame somewhere at someone they can unload on verbally. LOL

But since you can put a hot cup of coffee in your lap while driving down the road and attempt to put cream and sugar into it and it spills and burns you, then you can collect millions as it was the restaurants fault that the coffee was too hot, that kind of opened the door for any an all blame to be put on someone else. IMHO of coarse!

With respect to the reviews, this is why I take the member reviews with a grain of salt. I enjoy reading them and have even written one or two, but at the end of the day I'll stick to the professional write-up's.

Hello,

It is always fun to read complaints. Some of the complaints are legitimate but most are just plain crazy. My favorite complaints are about the weather and missing ports. People go on a cruise because Aunt Flo and Uncle Charlie said that they had a great time...food, service, food, casino, entertainment, and more food. But Aunt Flo doesn't tell them they are going on a ship, that is, a voyage at sea with weather variables resulting in missing ports.

Cruise lines should be more informative in their literature about weather and the possibility that ports will be missed. TAs must be upfront with their clients on this issue as well. This may help many persons interested in cruising to better understand the world of traveling by cruise ship.

Keep the complaints coming because they sure are fun to read.

Fred

When I read those kind of comments, it makes me think the people that complain about such petty problems must be unhappy with a lot of things in their lives.

If a dumb think like the fact that they were too cheap to book the cabin they really wanted and expect the cruise line to compensate them for that ruins their cruise, they deserve what they get.

When I read the Member Reviews I always dismiss the ones that start off "I will NEVER sail this line again" and go on to criticise every little thing that was not to their liking,as if everyone who is reading it would have the same tastes, and I usually dismiss the ones that say everything was perfect- and find the balanced ones somewhere in the middle that have given a lot of thought to describing their cruise, complaining only if it were a safety issue involved. Everything else about a cruise is pretty subjective .

Some people would complain about being given a million $ if you gave it to them in $1's.;)

I tend to read 1 year's worth of reviews, both good and bad for a new ship I'd be on. In the bad ones I analyze wether the complaint is legitimate or not, in the good ones wether it's a cheerleader writing. I don't tend to read older reviews since crews change with time.

I always get a chuckle out of knucklehead complaints...

I love the complaints about the seas being rough and the ship actually moving from side-to-side. On the CB a few years ago, my daughter had a cabin on Plaza deck and the couple next door tried to get a petition signed by those in nearby cabins to not deploy the stabilizers because they were making too much noise. (The petition failed.)

Many complaints are legitimate (I've had some complaints myself) but it's what you do when you're not happy with something that says something about you.

Hi Charlie,

Hopefully the guy whose airline lost his suitcase does avoid Princess. Good riddance I say!
