kazzercruise Posted October 7, 2007 #52 Share Posted October 7, 2007 Hi All, I've got a couple of the "Please set your clocks back/forward 1 hour" cards that they leave in your cabin, because I was using them as bookmarks and I forgot they were in the books! :o Also got the breakfast door thingys, coasters, menus, daily programmes etc etc. Lets face it, if it isn't nailed down it generally walks off! ;) The other thing I've got is a couple of the linen napkins, which when I hold them up to the light I can see the Cunard logo and name on it!! And a QE2 wooden coathanger! Also got a couple of QE2 fleeces that we bought on our first cruise, and many other items bought in the gift shop including towels, bathrobes etc! Which is where the hanger came from cos I cheekily kept asking for one! Wouldn't part with any of my lovely QE2/Cunard items! Just checking that auction site for more to add to the collection! Karen Not guilty M'Lord! PS I agree with the other lists which include the enhanced wasitline and some great memories!!

Jim Avery Posted October 7, 2007 #55 Share Posted October 7, 2007 They were all individually numbered with gold thread embroidery. Navy blue wool on top, red wool on the inside, black leather borders. All individually numbered. British efficiency in the old days. Very warm and snug on the North Atlantic. I can only surmise that the S stood for sundeck. When I see it, I can taste the bullion. Jim.
cunardqueen Posted October 7, 2007 #56 Share Posted October 7, 2007 To name but only a few of the items l have gathered over the past 20 years all from the QE2, Telephone, various cabin folders, crew cabin key (dont ask;) ),various Royal Doulton items,QE2 coathangers, crew laundry sheets, a passenger list on the old style computer printout showing the full passenger/entertainer cabin assignment 1988, leather bound menu holders, life belt, All obtained and not stolen:) as well as all the usual stuff that one gathers. As for the other items in my collection, perhaps best not mention it here:eek: However someone out there does have a full 12 place setting of the white Royal Doulton china, gold rim and stamped cunard. Wadadli1 Posted October 7, 2007 #57 Share Posted October 7, 2007 And I was going to add that I remembered we got a big pile of matches, too. I don't think that compares with telephones and bedsheets!
stowaway2k Posted October 8, 2007 #58 Share Posted October 8, 2007 And one of the original steamer rugs with "S163" embroidered on it. I have one, from the first Queen Elizabeth, numbered "D680", draped over a Queen Mary deck chair. The QE2 steamer rugs are identical to the ones from the first Queens. Back in the day, when a passenger would hire their deck chair and rug, the rugs, or blankets, would be delivered to the passenger in a package fresh from the laundry. The number would insure that the Deck Steward would give the passenger the same blanket each time they went to their chair. No 'blanket mixing' on the Cunard Queens. Now that's service! :)
travel-to-go Posted October 8, 2007 #59 Share Posted October 8, 2007 All of the above listed paper goods and more. Drink Coasters Swizzle Sticks Matches postcards, stationary, cocktail napkins, luggage tags (embark and disembark variety) Customs declarations, disembark instructions CWC cocktail party invitations stupid art auction and jewelry sale posters time change cards all tickets, including when we had air, and including boarding passes invoices letters from Cunard brochures (a couple of 94-95s and other years) Welcome CWC letter when they changed the program around 10 years ago, with my luggage tag still attached. Invitation to captains table dinner (unfortunately, I seem to have lost Commodore Warwick's business card, and for that I am still hitting myself on the head! I think it fell out of the book I had it tucked into. I still have the note he wrote me accompanying an article he had sent to our cabin for me. That I cherish.) ALL receipts from every cruise we have been on, cross referenced to the final bill (and checked off) soaps, shampoos, and, yes, shower capos from various cruises Cunard sewing kit (used to be included in the cabin) Might have a shoe shine kit, too, I'm not sure. I'd have to look. And never mind the things I've bought. I still love my cocktail glass gold- rimmed from the Cunard Crown Jewel. Also my Crown Jewel teddy Bear. And I've bought a few items online I have a QE2 pin sitting right here that I bought somewhere. I've also bought a number of cocktail rings on board! And the usual "stuff" and SO much more! jgsmuzzy Posted October 8, 2007 #60 Share Posted October 8, 2007 Interesting facts about the rugs. I also have a QM2 fleece, 1 QM2 cap, 3 QE2 caps, playing cards, keyrings, and "Ocean Players Club - Winner" t-shirt from the casino (I won a "fun" poker tournament with a stright flush, it would have won me about $2k if I had been playing for real). What else....

cunarder Posted October 8, 2007 #62 Share Posted October 8, 2007 We keep everything we get - like the daily papers, dinner menus, etc. We also buy alot of Cunard logo items - shirts, crystal glasses, etc. But are best catch was a new logo Cunard House Flag (big flag) that flew over the QM2 on our cruise (in her first season). We also were given a brand new Tender Cunard Flag. We were given those on the bridge of QM2 when we got to blow the QM2 horns at noon (a pleasant side effect of having asked them to fly my old Cunard House Flag over QM2 - it had previously flown in service over QE2). Very precious memories and gifts that will be cherished. Ed

Rare 3rdGenCunarder Posted October 8, 2007 #65 Share Posted October 8, 2007 And one of the original steamer rugs with "S163" embroidered on it. From the Sun Deck when Dennis ran the kingdom. Ah, Dennis. A crusty old soul, but we loved his kingdom. My rug is R61, and was bought on that famous auction site. I forgot clothing until someone mentioned that--I have various T shirts, windbreaker, terry cloth robe, and yes, the robe was BOUGHT on board. I don't keep the slippers, they're too big for me. I also have a collection of bone china mugs that they do for World Cruises, plus the ones with the ship and info (QE2, QM2, Caronia). Tiny teddy bear from Harrodds. And the ship-shaped teapot, almost forgot that. I believe a previous post mentioned the word obsessed... I suppose I am. I'm such a packrat! I also have several of the 'pillow gift' mini sea bags (tote bag) that they used to give everyone. Some still in the wrapper (hmmm, look for it next Nov, what am I bid... ;) ) Kathy

Ab Ovo Posted October 11, 2007 #70 Share Posted October 11, 2007 It is fun to read of everyone's "stuff" ... I have so much of it, too, also much of whats been mentioned. Over my basement door, seen every entrance, a large plaque of the ship...upstairs, a lead/stained-glass image of the prow....a navy sweater with a white outline of starboard ... "another place I like to be," the framed photograph of Boat Deck in the rain, in my bedroom ... given me when it was discovered I was a fan, now highly tarnished, never used, most-likely stolen and supposedly from the maiden voyage, a silver room-service coffee service & toast rack ... and so much of all the above "stuff" so far listed. But you know what? What really pleases is the constant "suprise" .... opening a drawer, a closet, a chest, getting a book, finding on a shelf .... suddenly seeing something QE2 and going "Ahhhh."
