I found all of the restaurants to be a bit confusing, so I have cut and pasted my finds. Hopefully this info will help someone else. Please add to this if you know something else about these restaurants!

There are 12 restaurants on board the ship.

6 of them are Free (or should I say included);) :

I would also love to know what is "Shabu Shabu." I've read very little about that one. And a picture of the buffet area and seating would be wonderful as well.

Shabu Shabu means "swish swish" and it's sort of like fondue -- you cook your bits of meat and veggies in a community pot. I didn't take photos of the interior buffet area on POH -- it's pretty much, um... a fairly typical modern buffet -- not one long line, but several "stations," some with meat, some with veggies, some with sushi, some with pasta, etc. There is also a "grill" area for the hot foods like steak/shrimp. I am attaching a thumbnail of our favorite part of the POH's buffet, though -- the Aloha Nui lanai (the open area on the back of the ship) -- a wonderful place, especially for breakfast, reasonably "far from the madding crowds."

  • 2 weeks later...

On some cruises you will see announcements of half price specials in the specialty restaurants. It seems that some cruises offer the discount for early dining, on others the discount is offered for late dining. Sometimes only the first night is discounted. And, on our POH cruise in August I do not remember seeing any specials.

If the discounts are offered...you will see it advertised in your Freestyle Daily.

I heard there was specific times that you can go dine that the prices were cheaper. Can someone assist me with this?

Thank you

We ate at Jasmine Garden on a 2-for-1 special on embarkation day on the Pride of Hawaii. As Kapaho2 says, just check the Freestyle Daily for other special offers -- sometimes early or late seating times are also offered at the 2-for-1 rate.

Thank you all for the feedbacks. Very helpful. I will wait for the freestyle daily.

I think three of the ones you have listed - Sushi, Shabu Shabu and Le Bistro are actually $15 per person.

We paid the extra $10pp for the chateaubriand and the total - with a GREAT bottle of Souvrain cabernet sauvignon- came to about $117. It was a wonderful meal.

Traditionally, towards the end you put in oriental "long life" noodles in the broth and have noodle soup to end the meal. Then its dessert :D
