Saturday Flight to San Juan

 If the storm (Frances) is centered on the Bahamas and Florida on Friday and Saturday, would a flight from New Yook be able to fly around the storm to get to Puerto Rico? If so is it likely to be a rough flight?

Update:

Just saw nother site that shows Frances hitting southeast Floriday Friday/Saturday...

We are also flying into San Juan on Saturday night - out of Boston via Texas - don't ask - long story. Anyway, as of 5:30 p.m. EDT 8/30/04, Frances was a strong Catagory 3 Hurricane about 210 miles south/southwest of Nantucket MA moving west about 14 mph with sustained wind speeds of approximately 125 mph. If it continues the way it's going, my best guess is it will hit landfall near West Palm Beach, Florida sometime Thursday, 9/2/04.

Another guess is that it might turn east/northeast after landfall and head up the east coast. Generally, it would take 1-2 days to affect New England - provided it doesn't go east and out to sea. That means...Saturday flights out of New England could likely be affected.

The good news is that if the planes can take off, they can always re-route.

Let's keep our fingers crossed and keep monitoring the storm!
