Printing out Deck Plans

Hi all. Perhaps you guys can give me some help. I'm trying to print out the deck plans for the Emerald Princess. Its such a HUGE ship, and since I have mobility issues, I want to bring a copy of the deck plans with me to help me navigate the vessel. The usual deck plan card that is in the cabin helps somewhat, but it doesn't really show the layout completely. When I copy and paste the deck from the Princess site, onto Microsoft Word, only half of the deck appears. Changing the size doesn't help, as it reverts back to the original size. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can do this or where I can get copies of them?

Thanks for your help.

Eddie4Paws: If you are running Word 2003 you should be able to double click the image within the document and the "Format Picture" window appears. Then select the "Size" tab, move down to the "Scale" area and "arrow" down the "Height" (I went down to 55%), click "OK". It worked for me and the document printed ok.

Just cut the Deck Plan out of a Brochure.

I would do the same thing, although bring a magnifying glass as the deck plans in the brochures are really small for these old eyes.

You'll probably run into issues with a deck plan fitting on one page abd still be decently legible. You'll end up with a small binder of pages by the time you are done. Maybe the brochure and magnifying glass would be simpler.

You should also be able to print right from your internet browser. Go the the deckplan page on Princess.com, hold the mouse over the deck plan and right-click. On Netscape,

click on "View Image", the print that page. On Explorer, right click and select "Print Picture".

Eddie.

Assuming you have some basic computer skills and you must if you are here.

1. Start Word and do whatever you need to do to select 8½ x 14 (legal size) paper.

2. Go to the website and right click on the deck plan, click copy, and then paste that into the Word documents and save it.

3. Now, depending on where you live, there should be a FedExKinko;s. OfficeMax or the like that you can email a document to and have them print it.

I do this whenever I have an oversize document.

Cheers!

Do you have PrintMaster or PrintShop or something similar? If you do just go to the Princess web site and find the ship and deck (s) you are interested in, right click on the picture, save it to your pictures/documents. Repeat for all decks you want.

Then open your graphics program and set it to banner and then import the pic and you can size and resize to your hearts content! I just tried it before I responded to be sure it worked.

I frequently right click to save all kinds of pics to my computer, esp of balcony rooms I'm interested in! Girls gotta dream! Good luck!

When sailing on the huge ships, I put all the areas of interest in Excel with their deck location and sort by deck and by area. For example, a sorted list would come out as follows:

Casino 4 Aft

Computer 6 For

Library 8 Mid

4 Aft Casino

6 For Computer

8 Mid Library

In a couple of days the list is unneeded.

Thanks for your great suggestions. I was trying them out, when I ran out of printer ink! Doesn't it figure? I have already made a written list of locations to help me, and the little card map given on the ship is somewhat helpful, until after you have walked to an elevator, only to realize that it doesn't go to a certain deck, or find yourself at a dead end. You all know what I'm talking about. EVERYONE has that look the first few days on a new ship. :D As soon as I get ink, I will try your suggestions. And if worse comes to worse, I'll do it the old way of "cut and paste" with scissors and tape. LOL!

I scanned the decks I wanted from the brochure and then printed them in

Word as imported jpg pictures that were scaleable. The print is a bit small

but still readable and they are crisp images. If you want bigger, print them

on 81/2x14 in landscape with fewer decks per page.

That worked perfectly! Thank you!

The deckplans on the website are not all the same as in the brochure I just received. For instance, on the Grand, deck 15 (Sun) aft is shown on the web as "voyage of discovery", but in the brochure it's "conference center". Which is correct?

Just be aware that some of the deck plans may be incorrect, on Grand Princess the plans show the stairs in the mid ship going all the way up but in realty they are "crew Only" above deck 7.

I will certainly take that into account when I'm navigating my way. Thank you.
