Itinerary time zones

We will be cruising out of San Diego on the Oosterdam soon. I believe San Diego is pacific time???

Our itinerary says we will be in Cabo from 8a - 6p, Mazatlan 8a-6p, and PV from 8a-10p. Does anyone know if this is stated in local/ Mexico/ central time or if that is the ships time, San Diego, Pacific time?

I am trying to book a couple of excursions on my own and want to make sure we get back to the ship on time.

We are looking at a tour in Cabo from 12:00 until 4:00 local time.

Any information would be helpful. I looked on the HAL website and can't find an answer.

This was asked/answered a week ago as follows:

San Diego is in Pacific Time Zone.

Cabo and Mazatlan are in Mountain Time Zone.

Puerto Vallarta is in Central Time Zone.

Many ships - including Oosterdam - discovered that changing the clocks 4 different times (twice going south and twice going north) on a 7 day cruise caused mass confusion for passengers and crew.

So they decided to change the clocks once going south - to keep ship's time consistent with shore time in Cabo San Lucas and Mazatlan. In Puerto Vallarta the local time is one hour later than ship's time. Passengers are reminded about this many times before they go ashore - and if they are chronologically challenged, they will return to the ship one hour early, rather than one hour late.

Then they change the clocks one more time going North, so ship time matches local time in San Diego.

Oosterdam has been doing this successfully for three consecutive years now. Hard to understand the confusion about it.

Hope that helps!

thanks grsnovi, but when the itinerary says cabo from 8-6p, does that mean Cabo time or San Diego time? How are the itineraries formatted?

thanks again!

It means Cabo time.

HAL ships change the clocks to match the time zone they are in, with the exception of the Oosterdam stop in Puerto Vallarta.
