In honor of our Australia visit ...

It's great to see you on our threads Linda. I've often wondered if we Aussies sound different with our comments on the message boards? I suppose sometimes you wonder what on earth we are talking about. No doubt you will notice that even Aussies from different parts of Australia have different 'accents'. For instance in North Queensland some people finish most of their sentences with 'hey'. Like, "It's been really hot today, hey". I lived there for a few years and developed the habit myself. The family said they could notice it when I returned to South Queensland. Not long now for you and for us, I hope you have a wonderful holiday. Sandra

I actually like the Australian accents. Since we cruise so often, I listen for them.

I do have to take a moment sometimes and translate what you are saying on the board, but usually it's pretty obvious.

Does it say " Cooeee cobber how ya goin blue" I worked for a govt dept that involved calling USA and every time the caller would aske me to say something in Australian and this is what i used to tell them . They would crack up laughing on the other end then practice it to tell theri friends about the aussie that rang them :D
