Birch Patio Motel in FLL??

I'm hunting a cheap motel for a couple of nights pre-cruise in Ft. Lauderdale. I actually like the kitschy 1950's and 60's motels, so long as they are clean. That's what this one looks like on their website. They have a good rating on TripAdvisor, so I've sent a request for info/reservations. I'd love to have some feedback from someone who actually stayed there, so as to reassure me it is not in a scary area or that people have a history of disappearing from there without a trace. :eek: Anyone?!

I went with the TripAdvisor recommendation, and I'm booked here January 5-7, 2008. I'll let you know what it was like when I get back. Will that be in time for you?
