sparky3229 Posted October 20, 2007 #1 Share Posted October 20, 2007 Sorry to ask this, but I have been searching for the CB wine list...I know I have seen it posted, but I am not having much success in searching for it. I am leaving in 2 weeks, and would like to take a look at it again. I remember there were some good opinions about some of the wines , too. LARGIN Posted October 20, 2007 #4 Share Posted October 20, 2007 You you try the wines from Rosenblum Winery in Alameda. They are located across from the old Alameda Naval Air Station..
sparky3229 Posted October 20, 2007 Author #5 Share Posted October 20, 2007 Yes we have been to Rosenblum, and drink Rosenblum... And my daughters went to school with Rosenblum...his daughter, that is! I remember tasting the best red wine I had ever tasted (until Del Dotto in Napa) at my girlfriends house a couple of years back, and it turned out to be Rosenblum, but I forget which one. What I do remeber is that it was much more than I ever spend for wine, so it really doesnt matter! Too bad. It was really good. It had a certain name of where they got the grapes from, as do many of their wines. It was around $60, and I just want an everyday wine at an everyday price. But that bottle showed me that there is a difference! Any recomendations from this list for a fair price? (red-very hearty, and also white... Pinot Grigio?) Just had a Tepranillo last week that my daughter brought home, but I dont see any on the list.
LARGIN Posted October 20, 2007 #6 Share Posted October 20, 2007 Sparky.. No Spanish wines so you will have to go to Bevmo or Cost Plus for more Tempranillo's.. On the ship 2 real good value red's are the Muritta's Well Meritage (Livermore Winery) @ $44, the Kenwood Jack London Cab @ $45 and the Frogs Leap Zin @ @
GoBlueCruiser Posted October 21, 2007 #7 Share Posted October 21, 2007 Just off the CB last week and Largin's list is still quite accurate with small price increases on a few selections. After a couple nights our waiter in the Palm dining room, Gilbert suggested a special of a 1.5L bottle of Nipozzano Riserva Chianti. It was $88.00 and we drank it for two nights and then had the balance(about two glasses) sent to our stateroom. This wine was pretty good but no great bargain as Costco carries the same wine and charges $15.99 for the .75L bottle. We did take the bottle home and have it prominently displayed in our china cabinet as a momento of our cruise. Enjoy sailing on the CB and drinking the wine onboard. TTEllis Posted October 21, 2007 #8 Share Posted October 21, 2007 Hey Largin from SFBA, THANK YOU VERY MUCH for posting that wine list. Now at least I know what I have to look forward to at dinner. Boy those prices are a bit steep, $56.00 a bottle for White Star?? $30.00 a bottle for Kendall-Jackson VR Chardonnay?? I get that all day long for $11 a bottle at Sam's Wholesale Scam.:) Really! You guys out in No.Cali. drink it for free. Anyway Thanks for the post Todd
TTEllis Posted October 21, 2007 #9 Share Posted October 21, 2007 Largin, could you recommend a good Chardonnay off that wine list?? Preferably California. That Carpene Mal Volti Sparkling Wine for $30 a bottle ever had it and what do you think of it???Thanks again Todd
DeRon Posted October 21, 2007 #10 Share Posted October 21, 2007 Take your own onbaord, but remember they will only allow you to "carry on" 1 bottle per person (which I do not understand). I learned this the hard way last week. If you want to get all the bottles to your your cabin, you have to pack them in your suitcase. Don't forget a cork screw.
