We just booked today on the Legend on Dec. 16, how is she lately? We sailed on her last Christmas out of Ft. Lauderdale, and this year we have to go about 5 miles to the port. I'm already excited, can anyone make me more so?

We were on the legend the 7th of October. We had a great time it was our first cruise. After reading all the reveiws and bad things about Carnival being the Walmart of cruises we didn't know what to expect we loved it. The ship was real clean and all the employees were real nice. We were in 8166 and never was bothered by the noise from the lido deck. The food was real good. We did eat in the supper club and felt it was to fancy for us. We ate everynight in the dinning room only ate on the lido deck breakfast and a sandwich. The casino smelled like a ashtray with all the smoke. The shows were ok it was something to do. We bought drink cupons and they worked out great. The drinks were good and the pricies wern't bad most drinks cost $5.25 I have paid more back on land when dining out. We plan on cruising again thats how much we liked it. Hope this helps if you have any questions you can email me @ mhch82@sbcglobal.net and I did do a reveiw of our trip.

I just got off of her last week. It was our first cruise on Carnival. We LOVEDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD her. It was a great cruise. We had an inside cabin (6165) and a wonderful room steward, Wayan. He kept our room spotless, which was a miracle. I think I somehow managed to use ever single towel in the place lol. I was really thrilled with the size of the room.

We had Donovan and Alex in the dining room. I thought they were good, but nothing super special, but I think we just didn't click with them. Their "shows" in the dining room were fun. I thought the food was good, my favorite meal was the turkey. I tried quail but I didn't like it so I had more crab cakes (they were the appetizer and were outstanding). If you like bread pudding you simply MUST order it. It was amazing, and wait for the sauce before you eat it. We had lunch and breakfast only once in the dining room. I had Jamaican bean soup and fish sticks and fries and they were excellent. Had breakfast in the dining room once as well, I had a waffle and it was good.

The FRIES are AMAZING! I had fries every day from the Lido deck, I never had a hamburger but my husband said they were great. I also had more than my fair share of ice cream. I never made it on the sea days when they had the toppings out, so that's a bummer lol.

OH! The fresh fruit chocolate cup that you can buy for $2 from Legends Cafe was awesome as well. I had 3 over the course of the trip. It's a white chocolate cup (looks like it was made in a cup cake pan) with a cheesecake filling and then fresh fruit on top, BUY ONE!

We only made it to the welcome aboard show and Jazz Hot. I wasn't that thrilled with Jazz Hot, it was ridiculously loud. I don't think I'm a fair judge on the shows because I've seen a lot of Broadway shows and that's what I'm used to. My husband went and saw the balancer and the adult comic and said both were really good.

We made it to almost all of the trivia and had a good time, even won a Ship on a Stick! My dad also won Who Wants to be a millionaire, so that was pretty exciting. Phone in Trivia was kinda of lame but a lot of fun.

Sailing under the Skyway Bridge is not to be missed!!!! I don't care if you have the early dinner seating, order your food and then get your butt up on deck! That was the neatest thing I've seen on board.

We did On Deck for the cure. It was an awesome thing to do. It's only $10 and you get a t-shirt and a bracelet and it goes to such a great cause. It was neat to see all the people with our matching shirts walk the deck.

Make sure you check out the pool games because they were a lot of fun to watch.

We didn't make it to the Grand Gala buffet or Bathrobes and Funnels party but after seeing pictures of both I wish we did.

you will LOVE the bedding! I loved the pillows so much I came home and ordered them and have already received them.

We played in both of the slot tournaments, and the second one I was lucky enough to make it to the final round but sadly I did not win.

Side trips,

Cozumel we did the Mayan Ruins and it POURED the whole time. We still had a good time. The ferry that you take was making a lot of people sick, I was very happy to have gotten off the boat without leaving some of my breakfast on there.

Belize- mom and I did the Bacab eco park and butterfly tour, we had a really good time. They were saying it was their cool time (we were soaked with sweat) so they weren't as active but we still enjoyed them. They also had a nice pool that we could swim in after lunch.

Dad and husband did reef bottom fishing in Belize, they enjoyed it, they didn't catch much but said other people had better luck.

Grand Cayman- we just wondered around and found a great free place to snorkel, it was over by the Harley Davidson place. they had 4 foot tarpin in the water!

Roatan- we booked with Victor Bodden and had a great tour! Went to the iguanas farm, saw 2 ship wrecks, his house to place with the baby monkeys, went snorkeling and shopping.

My parents did Carnivals Discover Roatan tour and really enjoyed it. They went to an Indian show and saw a bunch of hummingbirds and then took a boat ride to see the shipwrecks.

I know that was rambling and out of order but it should help get you more excited for your trip!

Let me know if you have any questions.

Here's my pictures as well.

We sailed on the Legend Sept. 23-30th. It was awesome. This was our 4th cruise with Carnival. It was a really great trip. We are trying to find a time to sail on the Legend again. Maybe, May or June??

The ship is in good ship. There are few places that need a little touch up. But, if you are not looking for them you won't find them. The ones I noticed were only after someone walking past made a comment about it.

The ship staff was the nicest we have had by far. Our room steward, Orlando, was really on top of everything. The dining staff, Rolando and Oleana, were the best dining staff we have ever had. In the past we have not eaten much in the dining room as the staff and food were not any better than the Lido buffet. This time we ate in the dining room every night for dinner (except for night at the Supper Club). Didn't do breakfast or lunch as DH and I are not big eaters for either of those meals.

Go to the coffee bar (Legend's cafe) and see Magdelena. She makes the best coffee according to DH. He should know as much as he drinks and he likes his strong. Usually he drinks a New Orleans blend as it is made with chicory. He said the coffee he bought at the coffee bar was the best he has had outside New Orleans.

You will love the ports. We loved them all. Have fun on your cruise. NOT TO BE MISSED - going under the Skyway.

Glad to hear everyone has enjoyed her. Only 4 more weeks for us and we are so excited. For those who just recently finished their cruise....what was the tendering like in Belize? Did you book with Carnival? If so, where did you meet to get your tender? We booked an independent tour and need to get on an early tender. How often do they run from ship to shore?

We're on her 11/25. I'm curious if anyone can tell me if scuba diving was available for booking in Roatan. It doesn't show up as available on Carnival and they can't tell me if it's available or just booked up. We need to know if we should book our own private diving. We're already booked for diving the other 3 ports. Can't wait!

We were on the legend Sept 30-Oct 7 and my husband REALLY wanted to dive in Roatan but like you, couold not find it listed as a shore excursion.

As soon as we boarded the ship and had lunch he went down to the shore excursion desk to inquire about diving in Roatan and they signed him up

immediately! Said it was some of the best diving he's done.........and has some great pics to prove it! Hope you can make the same arrangements!

P.S. The trip was from Anthony's Key Resort

We sailed on the Legend Sept. 23-30th. It was awesome.

I concur - it was awesome! We sailed on the 9/23 - 9/30 Legend cruise also and loved it! It was the first cruise for either of us and we both loved it so much that we have already booked another one for January 08. Personally I would sail on Legend again in a heartbeat even if it meant going to the same ports as the ports were all beautiful! We stayed on the ship the day in Belize but it was a beautiful day and spent time on the Lido deck where we failed miserably at Motown Trivia but had a ball playing.

I agree with Suncoast - don't miss going under the Skyway. Also, everyone should try the Chocolate Melting Cake in the dining room at least once. Incredibly rich but oh so good! Yumm!

As for the ports, I would have to say the nicest beach we went to was Roatan. We went to Coral Cay - a ship excursion and it was beautiful! Great snorkeling and the service we received at the beach was fantastic. We had a blast! One thing about Roatan, it's poverty is apparent from the pier and we had second thoughts about disembarking. I am sooooooo glad we did! I would love to go back to Roatan - it was truly beautiful!

The cabin we had was on deck 4, aft - a balcony. Our room steward (Julia I believe is her name) was awesome! The cabin was a bit larger than I expected and we were quite comfortable. FYI - if you have electrical items (Laptop, Camcorder, etc...) you may want to bring a surge protector power strip as there was only one socket (that I could find) in the cabin. Do NOT bring an iron on board - fire hazard!

Bottom line - the ship was beautiful. The ports were great. The only problem I had with on-board service was one night in dining room they over cooked my steak and it took two attempts before the got it right. Once they did get it right, it was very good. Oh, I did go into the exercise area/spa and it was very nice - updated equipment and seemed as if there were plenty of machines. I did not use any of them as my theory was I'm on vacation - here to relax - I can work-out later.

So if Carnival is "the WalMart of cruise lines" then I guess I must be a WalMart shopper as I would go on The Legend again in a heartbeat as stated.

Don't have a clue what to expect on the next cruise as it's going to be on an RCCL ship and the only thing I have to compare it to was my Legend cruise. We'll see..... but either way, I'm sure it will be awesome too as cruising is much better and way more relaxing than being at work! :)

Any other questions, just ask. If not, then enjoy yourselves and the ship!

Red Sox are going to the Series!! Priceless!! :)

We were tendered in Grand Cayman and Belize. We were docked in Coz and Roatan.

As for cell I think they have what was called "cell at sea" once into international waters. I think it was wicked expensive though! Like in the neighborhood of $7.00 a minute. I don't know about Blackberry. We did buy Internet minutes and were able to access via wi-fi from the cabin. If I recall correctly I think we paid $55 for 110 minutes. They had a special the 1st full day at sea - where if you bought minutes they threw in some extra minutes for free. This was a one day special.

Hope this helps.

Thanks much, Rdrunner! (Always one of my favorite cartoons, by the way!)

Miss-Canada, we asked AT&T (formerly Cingular) about the prices for cell calls while away...$3.00 per minute! But only $.50 for each text message...

You should check with your cell company to get their rates....

I agree with Linda. We have verizon and it is $2.49 per minute on the ship. However, for $3.99 we added the international plan and the rates are different in each port. In Grand Cayman it is 20 cents a minute and in Cozumel it is 9 cents a minute. You have to be off the boat though to get those rates:D I belive Belize was 30 cents a minute and Roatan was $1.49 a minute. I can't remember what the text messaging cost. However each company should have their own plans so you need to call yours RDrunner.

Thanks everyone so far, I'm glad to see all good reviews! I haven't cruised out of Tampa before, but we were trying to limit our spending a little bit so I only looked into cruises that were out of here this time. We've already been to all the ports except Roatan, but we'll just do something different this time (well, except in Belize - we loved our cave tubing tour company too much to go with anyone else until we go back to just Belize for a whole week). I just need a vacation so badly! Keep em coming!

When I wrote about the cell calls being wicked expensive I was referring to literally using the cell phone while at sea - not in a port. I think any of the major cell carriers will offer international plans where one can pay (like you said) about .20/.30 cents a minute. I did speak with my cell company and thought about adding the international plan but then again I figured - why? I'm on vacation and there is no one I need to talk to that bad! Good luck with it.

FYI, for those of you who like to see some pics of the Sept. 23-30th sailing check out the roll call for that date. There is also the first part of my DH's (unclepatntampa) review on there. The pics might give some idea of the ship and a few things to do in port.

We did not go anywhere special at any of the ports except for Belize. We did a city tour and a tour of Alta Han Mayan ruins. We had been to Coz and Grand Cayman before. In Roatan we walked to the west end and took in the sights along the way. Once back on ship found out we should have gone out with Rdrunner to the beach. Next time we plan to go to the beach she went to. We are planning to take this same cruise in the spring of 08 (most likely May).

Rdrunner, go check out the pics and review on the roll call. Need to send you your pic with all of us.
