palm aire Posted October 22, 2007 #1 Share Posted October 22, 2007 We are cruising October 27-November 3. We will be on Royal Caribbean Voyager of the Seas. Our Iberia flight leaves Barcelona at 9:45 AM on November 3. I hope this is enough time to depart the ship and get to the flight on time?? Any input? Has anyone traveled this route before and made it on time? Thank you for answering.
paul929207 Posted October 22, 2007 #2 Share Posted October 22, 2007 I would suggest you check with Royal Caribean. As I recall it is 45 minutes or an hour to the airport from the port, so you will be calling it close if you get off the ship at 7am, much after that and your chances drp rapidly. JJPNYC Posted October 22, 2007 #3 Share Posted October 22, 2007 Plus with international flights you typically need to be at the airport 2 hours prior to the flight at a minimum. Never being in Spain, but I'd say trying to make a 9:45AM flight is cutting it mighty mighty close and is a risk that I wouldn't feel comfortable taking. ab0si Posted October 22, 2007 #4 Share Posted October 22, 2007 Well, th good news is that it is Iberia. They have many flights from Barcelona to Madrid. Also, since it is Iberia, they probably will not depart on time, anyway. On Saturday, a taxi will get you to the airport in 30 minutes. Standing in line at the Iberia counter will take you .. awhile ... then security, probably a longish walk to the gate, then likely a bus from the gate to the plane. You might might make it, you might not. I certainly would not want to try. What happens if you miss the flight? Will Iberia (known for non-existant customer service) rebook you for free on the next available flight? How much time do you have in MAD to make the connection? If you miss the first flight, Iberia can cancel the entire ticket and you'll have to pay walk-upr prices to get home. Paul
