shipty2 Posted October 23, 2007 #1 Share Posted October 23, 2007 We will be in Key West on Christmas day and would like to attend mass if possible. Does anyone know if the Catholic church is within walking distance from the port? I have been to Key West before but never noticed the church. RHefley228 Posted October 24, 2007 #2 Share Posted October 24, 2007 Everything in Key West is theoretically within walking distance, depending on your physical abilities. See http://www.keywestcatholicparish.org/ for information about St. Mary's.
bhopal21 Posted October 24, 2007 #3 Share Posted October 24, 2007 St. Mary's Star of The Sea is located on Truman at Windsor Lane which is roughly twelve blocks or so from Front St and you should be able to walk it in about 20 min or less. Taxis are also plentiful and cheap. Mike:)
Silvery Seas Cruiser Posted October 29, 2007 #4 Share Posted October 29, 2007 Let me add that St Mary Star of the Seas is a lovely church. All the side doors are left open for masses. When there is a good breeze, it wafts right through. You should not miss the Lourdes-style grotto. At the start of hurricane season, many locals, even non-Catholics, light a acndle there to pray for hurricanes to avoid Key West. There is also a cemetery near the grotto where some of the nuns from the past of the chruch are buried.
