petesweet Posted October 27, 2007 #1 Share Posted October 27, 2007 On Royal Caribbean cruises we can get cash from the casino and it is charged to our Seapass card. It's sometimes even suggested by the information counter personnel. Can cash be requested on NCL cruises? (Makes a difference how much cash we carry on upcoming cruise.) NRWPA Posted October 27, 2007 #2 Share Posted October 27, 2007 Sorry I can't answer you with NCL question - I've been on several but never used the casino cash option, but with my last Carnival cruise, you could charge casino $$ to your shipboard account for a $3 service charge (3% per dollar for casino credit). Probably the same on NCL?
Toyz711 Posted October 27, 2007 #3 Share Posted October 27, 2007 as of now, it's still free to get cash from your on-board account through the cashier at the casino.
lgfromdg Posted October 27, 2007 #4 Share Posted October 27, 2007 All you have to do is go to the casino cashier and ask for cash for the slot machines. They charge it to your on-board account and you can use it for whatever you want.

salty dingo Posted October 27, 2007 #6 Share Posted October 27, 2007 Be assured the cruise line is monitoring this. If you want to get cash to gamble, this is for you. If you want to use this as your personal ATM to finance purchases ashore... well you are going to ruin it for everyone. The lowest form of life has a frequent flyer card tied to the onboard account. They charge the maximum allowed by the casino each day, and squirrel it away (keeping all the charges as miles on the credit card.) At the end of the voyage, they unsquirrel (is that a word?) all the funds and pay off the credit card, and they yield enough miles for a round trip ticket anywhere in the USA. Let's hope the cash advance police puts a squeeze on those rascals!
lvz2cruz Posted October 27, 2007 #7 Share Posted October 27, 2007 We tried to get cash on the Majesty in May and could not. There was an ATM where you could use your credit card and pay a surcharge. Is it the same on all ships or has anyone gotten casino cash lately?

Toyz711 Posted October 27, 2007 #9 Share Posted October 27, 2007 did you have a credit card backing your on-board charges? if someone has a cash deposit or debit card, i don't know if they could get money off the sign & sail card. the ATM fees are awful, much higher then land base. we were in alaska, as we entered the water around victoria, they shut down the casnio and don't re-open for the short cruise to seattle. before they closed the casino, they wouldn't let anyone get cash from the card. MrLee Posted October 27, 2007 #10 Share Posted October 27, 2007 I remember one cruise (I don't remember which one) that the casino ran out of cash. They weren't broke of course but they had to hold onto a certain amount for payoffs. I usually get chips and don't cash them in until the end of the cruise. They have to be prepared for people like me. ;)
