ginag Posted September 4, 2004 #5 Share Posted September 4, 2004  My question is...what refurbishments can they do in 20 days? Seems like this isn't alot of time to do a major over-haul. Any thoughts?
Txcruisers04 Posted September 4, 2004 #6 Share Posted September 4, 2004 They are prob. just going to Clean it up..and fix what ever needs to be fixed and get new crew!! We sail on our 4th cruise on her Nov. 11,2004!!Cant wait!
robtx100 Posted September 5, 2004 Author #7 Share Posted September 5, 2004 Ginag, that's what I was thinking. 20 days is not alot of time to do any renovating. Minus the day it will take to get into dry dock, then a day to get to Galveston, will only be 18 days. From one of the posts I've read, hopefully they will get new towels and linens, but he sounded grumpy in his review of the ship. We'll still have a good time regardless. Thanks for the input everyone.
kajsb Posted September 5, 2004 #8 Share Posted September 5, 2004 I've sailed the Ecstasy 3 times in the past 2 years. She can use an overall cleaning just to spruce her up. Only needs a minor face lift. My most recently sailing on her was just in June. You will love her!
phroggie Posted September 5, 2004 #9 Share Posted September 5, 2004 We were on MS Ecstasy in mid-August. My guess is that if they're putting her in dry-dock, they probably need to do some mechanical/maintenance work below the water-line. At the same time, they'll probably do some interior work. Not that she needs that much work, but she does show some wear. The carpets are probably at that point where they still have lots of wear left but they look a little dingy. (Don't believe me? Compare under the desks in the far corner with the middle of the room.) The furniture and wall panels in the cabins are all scratched up. In short, they're at the point where they'll have to be replaced. I'm sure they've Gantt charted it down to the hour and already lined up sub-contractors to do 1000+ cabins in 18 days. jnnifer01 Posted September 9, 2004 #18 Share Posted September 9, 2004 One of my co-workers sailed aboard the Ecstasy last June from Long Beach and they said they had a great time. I got to see some of his pictures from the cruise. The ship is colorful, to say the least. I can't wait to see what they've done with her.

mk3hawkins Posted September 10, 2004 #22 Share Posted September 10, 2004 What are the chances that this wild hurricane season is going to effect the dry docking? If they cant complete or even begin the dry docking will the keep the Celebration in Galveston or just send the Ecstasy without repairs??
p2lockhart Posted September 10, 2004 #23 Share Posted September 10, 2004 We will be cruising her on Thanksgiving. So far, no one else has indicated that they are cruising that date on my thread Ecstacy 11/25/04 Thanksgiving Cruise and I am beginning to think that we will have the run of the ship. Anyone else cruising her on Thanksgiving?
