Shorts In Alaska

We are leaving on June 25th on the Vision. Realistically, how often will we need to be wearing shorts outside? Will a couple of pair be sufficient to pack, or does it warm up enough every day that we will be hot in long pants?

When we went, there was one day, in Skagway, when I would have been comfortable in shorts if I'd thought to put them on before leaving the ship. I actually regretted the sweats-like pant suit I was wearing. I don't think I ever did wear my shorts at all that trip, and had only brought one or two pairs, just in case. We were there mid-July.

We've had days in low 70s several times. >I always optimistically pack a pair of shorts.. Last time I wore lots of crop pants..comfy and easy to pack IMHO only.
